Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Public Information Manager plans and implements communication initiatives including news releases, newsletters, public events, news conferences, social media, etc. Directs public information to the public and media.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate, plan and implement communication initiatives for the City; including high profile issues, communication/marketing plans, advertising placement, content creation, emergency management, and employee communications </li><li>Provide guidance on highly visible public campaigns and education initiatives </li><li>Manager media relations by working with the media in a positive, cooperative environment </li><li>Answer calls and questions, schedule interviews, coach and provide positive feedback to City Representatives when participating in media interviews </li><li>Develop, plan, and implement special activities both internal and external for promoting the City and executive leadership </li><li>Develop and implement speakers circuit including on-going messaging </li><li>Arrange and conduct editorial planning meetings </li><li>Supervise, evaluate and coach staff </li><li>Proactively prepare content for newsletters, brochures and City websites </li><li>May act in place of Director of Communications including acting as City Spokesperson, managing staff, maintaining operational continuity, attending executive meetings and providing resources for executive staff </li><li>Determine and adhere to budget for special projects including news monitoring, advertising and content delivery to residents, businesses, and visitors </li><li>Provide communication support to elected officials at the direction of the Director of Communications </li><li>Research, analyze, and assist elected officials with information requests following the appropriate process and procedures </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a Bachelor's Degree </li><li>Master's Degree preferred </li><li>Minimum of five (5) years of experience, with two - three (2-3) years supervisory experience </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>A valid driver's license is required.
