<p>How You Will Make an Impact</p> <p>The Director of Engineering for Reading Truck Body will primarily be responsible for providing leadership in the planning and organizing of the sustaining, special product, and new product development engineering functions, to ensure the delivery of solutions that meet the timing, cost, and performance objectives as required to support business growth and performance goals.</p> <p>The Nuts and Bolts</p> <ul> <li>Implement and execute the strategic vision by setting goals and objectives for day-to-day engineering activities; lead the design for manufacturing activities </li><li>Evaluate, lead and/or support implementation of new equipment, assembly and manufacturing technologies </li><li>Ensure that engineering works effectively with all functions in the organization to meet customer requirements for cost, quality, performance and on-time delivery </li><li>Keep abreast of competitive brands and customer needs to keep products competitive in the markets we serve </li><li>Drive product and component standardization efforts to maximize efficiency of manpower and material utilization with focus on manufacturability and ease of assembly and simplified installation </li><li>Support continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying, validating, and leading VA/VE initiatives for existing product design and manufacturing readiness </li><li>Interface with customers, suppliers, and various company departments to prevent and/or resolve quality and design issues </li><li>Lead product compliance and ensure standard and custom products meet OE and Federal requirements and guidelines </li><li>Provide oversight and final sign-off of Finite Element Analysis (FEAs) to confirm fatigue life of products </li><li>Own review and approval for warranty questions </li><li>Develop and lead DFEMA activities </li><li>Participate in APQP activities </li></ul> <p>Required Credentials</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering required, Advanced Degree preferred </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 7 years' experience in Engineering role, with at least 3 in a leadership role </li><li>Experience with FMVSS/CMVSS, CFR, IVD requirements and guidelines </li><li>Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations and corrections </li><li>Experience joining technologies of like and dissimilar materials </li><li>Metal forming experience </li></ul> <p>How We Make an Impact</p> <p>At Reading Truck, we have more than 65 years of industry leadership in the manufacture, distribution, and enhancement of work truck bodies.
