Coaching and development, recognition and growth opportunities are some of the benefits of working in our small team environment.</p> <p>Position Overview:</p> <p>As a Claims Adjuster, you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of insurance claims, from researching and investigating coverage to final resolution. You will ensure that all claims are managed promptly, professionally, and accurately, with a focus on customer service, effective communication, and thorough analysis. You will also travel occasionally to inspect losses, attend settlement conferences, and conduct field investigations.</p> <p>Principal Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Coverage Research & Application: Investigate, research, and apply coverage for a broad range of residential and commercial policies in all 50 states, ensuring accurate analysis of policy language and claim facts. </li><li>Claims Resolution: Resolve coverage questions swiftly and protect Stillwater's rights under its policies, while composing position papers, resolution plans, and related correspondence. </li><li>Correspondence: Write non-waiver, reservation of rights letters, disclaimers, and other essential claim resolution documents. </li><li>Communication: Professionally manage all communications with parties involved in the claims process. Respond to calls within one hour and maintain timely updates. </li><li>Strategic Claim Handling: Utilize various resources (e.g., remote photo capture, independent adjusters) to efficiently manage claims and resolve issues. </li><li>Financial Accountability: Ensure proper claim and expense reserving practices, and adjust reserves as needed based on claim development and applicable legal standards. </li><li>Investigation & Documentation: Conduct thorough investigations, provide task instructions for outside resources, and ensure files are well-documented to justify all decisions. </li><li>Fraud Detection: Recognize and report fraud indicators, collaborating with the SIU (Special Investigations Unit) when necessary. </li><li>Subrogation & Recovery: Identify and pursue subrogation and salvage opportunities in a timely manner. </li><li>Litigation Management: Strategize litigation plans to minimize loss costs, and negotiate settlements effectively with stakeholders. </li><li>Legal Expense Management: Assist in managing the legal expenses of defending lawsuits and avoid unnecessary litigation. </li><li>Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, diffuse conflicts, and honor commitments. Participate in after-hours call rosters as needed. </li><li>Compliance: Ensure adherence to all applicable Unfair Claim Practice Acts, insurance codes, and company best practices. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS/BBA) or equivalent combination of education and experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience: Extensive knowledge of property and casualty policies, loss reserving, and development skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Skills:</p> </li><li> <p>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of MS Excel and industry-specific software.</p> </li><li> <p>In-depth understanding of damage estimating and repair techniques for residential construction.</p> </li><li> <p>Exceptional investigation and customer service skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Licensing: Must maintain adjuster licenses and fulfill continuing education requirements for the states assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Travel: Occasional travel for inspections, investigations, and conferences.</p> </li></ul> <p>Apply today to start your journey of being celebrated and valued with Stillwater Insurance Group.</p> <p>Offer is contingent upon a favorable response from both a pre-employment background investigation and a drug screen.</p> <p>Stillwater Insurance Group is an equal opportunity employer and a drug free workplace.</p>
