Applicants should submit their application by clicking Apply Now.</p> <p>For more information, visit www.abm.com</p> <p>The Manager of Fire & Life Safety is responsible for the oversight, inspection, maintenance, and compliance of all fire protection and life safety systems across Central Piedmont Community College's multi-campus portfolio.</p> <ul> <li>NICET Level III in Fire Alarm Systems, Sprinkler Systems, or Fire Protection required. </li><li>10 years of experience in fire protection, life safety inspection, fire alarms, or related technical fields. </li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain all applicable North Carolina Licenses within designated timeline. </li><li>Strong working knowledge of NFPA standards, local fire codes, and inspection/testing procedures. </li><li>Experience with digital inspection platforms, work order systems, and report documentation. </li></ul> <p>Fire & Life Safety Inspections</p> <ul> <li>Perform full inspections and functional testing of fire alarm, sprinkler, fire pump, standpipe, emergency lighting, and life safety systems across all campuses. </li><li>Conduct routine emergency system checks, including fire pump weekly churn tests and generator-related life safety circuits. </li><li>Document findings and maintain up-to-date inspection records in accordance with NFPA, State Fire Marshal, and local regulatory standards. </li></ul> <p>Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting</p> <ul> <li>Act as the on-site technical authority for all fire protection and life safety systems. </li><li>Provide in-house troubleshooting and minor repairs to reduce outsourced work orders and vendor dependency. </li><li>Support maintenance teams with diagnosis of system faults, device malfunctions, communication issues, and impairment events. </li></ul> <p>Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management</p> <ul> <li>Assist in managing impairment plans, ensuring proper notifications, fire watch documentation, and restoration procedures. </li><li>Ensure strict compliance with NFPA codes, North Carolina Fire Code, and State Fire Marshal requirements. </li><li>Prepare for and support inspections by third-party agencies, including the Fire Marshal. </li></ul> <p>Vendor & Contract Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Review inspection reports from subcontractors and vendors for accuracy, code compliance, and completeness. </li><li>Oversee contracted repairs to ensure proper scope, pricing accuracy, and College cost control. </li><li>Coordinate with outside vendors as needed, ensuring work quality and alignment with CPCC standards. </li></ul> <p>Operational Efficiency</p> <ul> <li>Reduce outsourced service calls by building internal capability for routine inspections and minor system repairs. </li><li>Track trends in system performance, recurring issues, and asset life cycle to support long-term planning. </li><li>Provide technical guidance to facilities staff related to fire/life safety systems and emergency procedures. </li></ul>
