<p>DRIVER 1 - PUBLIC WORKS/GM</p> <p>CITY OF BARTLETT</p> <p>PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT</p> <p>GENERAL MAINTENANCE</p> <p>DRIVER I</p> <p>$49,415.00 Annually / $23.76 Hourly</p> <p>Join our team in this full-time role offering exceptional benefits, including comprehensive health and life insurance, a strong retirement plan, and competitive pay.</p> <p>Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Performs a wide range of manual duties associated with installation, repair, and maintenance of city streets and other substructures including digging, erecting street signs, breaking pavement, mixing and pouring concrete, cutting and clearing weeds, brush, and collecting loose leaves during leaf season. </li><li>Operates power equipment to mix, spread, compact, and level paving materials including pavement rollers, soil tampers, and bituminous distributors. </li><li>Positions trucks for loading and driving tandem axle commercial vehicles to haul spoil to the landfill or other materials such as sand, gravel, dirt, asphalt, or concrete treated base to the work site. </li><li>Must be able to drive various light equipment such as pick-up trucks, one and two-ton single-axle dump trucks, skid steer loaders, bucket trucks, and farm tractors. </li><li>Set up barricades and flag traffic around the work site. </li><li>Uses various hand tools to dig, sweep, spread, level, and move materials such as concrete, gravel, sand, dirt, and asphalt. </li><li>Sets forms around the area to be repaired and smoothest and finishes surfaces of poured concrete sidewalks and curbs to specified textures. </li><li>Constructs and repair drainage inlets and manholes, using masonry tools. </li><li>Operates paint application machines to install crosswalks and other pavement markings. </li><li>Operates backpack chemical sprayer to spray ditches and roadside areas with chemicals operates backhoe, flush truck, and front-end loader </li><li>Occasionally operates backhoe, flush truck, and front-end loader. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Working knowledge of operating procedures for various light equipment. </li><li>Ability to read and understand operation manuals and chemical application instructions. </li><li>Knowledge of standard safety practices. </li><li>Skill in using Basic Street and drainage repair tools and equipment. </li><li>Ability to follow oral/written instructions. </li><li>Ability to communicate with co-workers. </li><li>Ability to drive standard shift vehicles. </li><li>Physical ability to perform essential job duties. </li></ul> <p>Education, Training and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>One to three years' experience in street construction, maintenance, or repair activities. </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Must pass a background screen, driver's license verification and physical exam, including a drug test. </li><li>Must be able to drive and have a valid Class "B" Commercial Driver's License, with air brakes, which must remain valid as a condition of continued employment. We will run a full query with the FMCSA Clearinghouse. Query results must be 'Not Prohibited'.
