<p>Under general direction the person in this position must work independently, representing the college to non-traditional students, high school students, guidance counselors, parents, and families, business and industry. Persuasive group presentations are made in the high school classrooms to encourage Wallace State Community College attendance. Skill in preparing and presenting workshops is required. Broad knowledge base of college recruiting best practices for enrollment is required.</p> <ul> <li>Ability and expertise with working with all types of students, i.e. non-traditional students, traditional students, adult education students, and dual enrollment/fast track students. </li><li>Present information to prospective students concerning WSCC programs of study, scholarship opportunities, general college terminology. </li><li>Demonstrate effective and motivational interpersonal skills; communication skills, both written and oral; and work ethic (i.e., preparation and punctuality). </li><li>Assist in advising students regarding degree/certificate plans and STARS articulation agreements as appropriate to program. </li><li>Comply with WSCC, Alabama Community College System, and FERPA guidelines. </li><li>Engage in career assessment training and monitor employment trends. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of college admissions, advising, and financial aid processes. </li><li>Attend conferences, workshops, meetings and community events to promote the college. </li><li>Distribute college information to schools and other community locations. </li><li>Use the computer effectively for word processing, instructional application, electronic communication, information and data management. </li><li>Meet with high school personnel to maintain involvement in established recruiting programs. </li><li>Coordinate on campus visits for prospective students and drive transportation. </li><li>Prepare handout and digital communications for distribution. </li><li>Coordinate annual visits to high school awards programs to present scholarships. </li><li>Advise prospective students through personal appointments, telephone contact, and/or written correspondence (including but not limited to e-mail). </li><li>In order to perform these essential functions, the recruiter must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential job function. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by Director, Vice President, and/or President. </li><li>Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Public Relations, Marketing, Education, or related field required. </li><li>Experience in marketing and leading individuals and groups, preferred. </li><li>Verbal skills to deliver persuasive presentations to prospective students, parents and guidance counselors, writing skills to communicate effectively and professionally. </li><li>Ability to work nonstandard hours in a variety of environments, required </li><li>Possess valid driver's license and reliable transportation, required </li><li>Professional appearance required as defined by general high school dress codes. </li><li>Technology skills to utilize computer software programs and social media, required. </li></ul> <p>A complete application packet must be received in the no later than 1 p. m., Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
