Vikan Middle School is a traditional middle school with a strong emphasis on restorative practices and academic excellence. We are located in the heart of Brighton in Colorado. Vikan Middle School, a 27J School, is looking for a dynamic Middle School Reading Interventionist to inspire the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers!</p> <p>Why Vikan?</p> <p>A Vibrant Learning Community We are a traditional middle school that values academic excellence and restorative practices, ensuring every student feels supported and empowered.</p> <p>Located in the Heart of Brighton, CO Our school is a hub of learning, leadership, and innovation in a growing and diverse community.</p> <p>Empowering Our Knights Our vision is clear: "Empowering our Knights today, to become the learners, leaders, and thinkers of tomorrow."</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Instruction & Intervention</p> <ul> <li>Deliver small-group and individualized reading interventions aligned to student needs and assessment data. </li><li>Implement evidence-based literacy strategies focused on decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. </li><li>Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with IEPs, 504, or READ plans. </li></ul> <p>Assessment & Progress Monitoring</p> <ul> <li>Analyze diagnostic, formative, and summative literacy assessments. Assessments include FastBridge aReading, CBMReading, District Common Assessments, and other in-class data sources. </li><li>Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of student performance and intervention outcomes. </li><li>Use data to identify trends and inform instructional decisions. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Support</p> <ul> <li>Partner with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with core instruction. </li><li>Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) communities. </li><li>Provide strategies and resources to teachers to support literacy across content areas </li><li>Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and strategies for support at home. </li></ul> <p>Key Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of adolescent literacy development. </li><li>Data-driven instructional decision-making. </li><li>Ability to build relationships with students and staff. </li><li>Effective communication and collaboration skills. </li><li>Commitment to equity and supporting diverse learners. </li><li>Knowledge of early literacy instructional practices with an elementary frame or secondary frame. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A valid Colorado Department of Education Teaching License. </li><li>Colorado Department of Education "In Field" by CDE endorsement or qualifications to teach the posted subject area. </li><li>The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously. </li><li>The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team.
