<p>Medica is seeking two (2) experienced Technical Leads with a strong development background in designing scalable solutions that support Medica's enrollment and billing platforms. These roles are ideal for a highly technical strategic thinker who thrives in a mission-driven, healthcare-focused organization and is passionate about ensuring financial integrity and compliance.</p> <p>Each Software Engineering Lead will be responsible for approximately 50% hands-on technical coding work and 50% lead responsibilities that include architecture projects, mentoring developers and QA, and distributing work. These hands-on technical leadership roles will guide the future of our technology ecosystem for their platform (Billing or Enrollment). The role will assess our current systems, uncover opportunities for modernization, and lead the design and implementation of scalable solutions that support Medica's long-term goals.</p> <p>The ideal candidate is a technical generalist with strong system design expertise and a proven ability to bridge strategy and execution across diverse technologies.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assess existing systems and integrations to understand current capabilities, gaps, and areas for improvement. </li><li>Lead system design and architecture decisions to build secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. </li><li>Provide hands-on technical expertise in backend and frontend development while setting engineering best practices. </li><li>Partner with product, infrastructure, and business teams to define technology roadmaps and implementation plans. </li><li>Mentor and guide development teams, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement. </li><li>Conduct code review in partnership with Software Engineers and Quality Assurance Engineers to ensure the highest standards for clean, bug-free code. </li><li>Communicate technical strategies and recommendations clearly to non-technical stakeholders and leadership teams. </li><li>Partner and mentor off-shore Software Engineers and Vendor Partners on new system architecture and platform consolidation </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience. </li><li>5-7+ years of experience in software engineering or technical architecture, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. </li><li>Strong understanding of system design principles, architecture patterns, and cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure, APIs, microservices). </li><li>Hands-on experience in backend and front-end development, with proficiency in one or more languages like Go, Java, .NET, Python and React. </li><li>Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and business stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in healthcare, insurance, or other regulated industries. </li><li>Knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA). </li><li>Experience leading technology transformations, migrations, or platform upgrades. </li><li>Self-starter with strong analytical skills </li><li>Strong understanding of systems, data governance standards and hierarchies </li><li>Ability to think strategically, influence with formal and informal leadership </li></ul> <p>These positions are in Office roles, which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday. We are open to candidates located near one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN, or Madison, WI</p> <p>The full salary range for this position is $112,400 - $168,600. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data.
