<p>Overview</p> <p>The Med Lab Assistant provides daily support for the UF Health Pathology Laboratory and Central Florida pathologists, working closely with the manager, supervisor, and technologists to ensure that the lab and all clients receive the support needed to provide timely and accurate results and service. Processes and prepares cytology specimens for analysis. Manages histology slides and blocks, assists with case send outs and outside material management, and prepares materials for pathologists and histotechnologists. Helps with reports and addendums and distributes them to clients and pathologists. Assists with inventory management for the labs. Assists with incoming/outgoing telephone calls, accessing the laboratory database, and communicating with clients regarding case status, specimen handling requirements, fees, insurance, and other information.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:</p> <p>High School graduate or equivalent. Health related or science background with one year lab specific experience preferred. Must have computer operational skills using a personal computer, laboratory system, or other hospital information system.</p>
