As a Development Associate you will supports the Air Force Villages (AFV) Charitable Foundation by providing comprehensive administrative, operational, and development support to advance the organization's philanthropic mission. This role assists office coordination, donor database management, and general development activities to ensure efficient daily operations and effective donor engagement.The Development Associate works collaboratively with the development team to support fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, special events, and communications efforts. This position reports directly to the Director of Philanthropy and works closely with internal departments, volunteers, and external stakeholders as needed. What you will do in this role: Gift Processing & Data Entry Process incoming contributions & bank deposits Reconcile monthly reports with finance department Database Management & Data Integrity Maintain and update constituent records, including biographical data, contact information, and relationships. Perform routine data clean-up, deduplication, and validation to ensure accuracy and completeness. Follow established data standards and procedures to maintain integrity within database Receipting & Acknowledgement Generate and distribute timely and accurate tax receipts and donor acknowledgements. Maintain templates and ensure consistency in donor communications in alignment with Foundation standards. Track acknowledgement workflows to ensure all donors are properly stewarded. Administrative & Operational Support Acts as recording secretary at all AFV Charitable Foundation Board meetings. Prepare correspondence for Director of Philanthropy as needed. Respond to internal inquiries regarding gift records, donor information, and acknowledgements. Support audits, campaigns, and special projects assigned. Coordinate release of funds with finance department Attend fundraising events as needed to support Development team Other duties as assigned by Director of Philanthropy.</p> <p>General Requirements: Requires a self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. High standard of integrity and work ethic. Ability to work well with and motivate others. Energetically, enthusiastically and confidently builds donor relationships. Possesses strong knowledge of the best practices of fundraising and donor cultivation and stewardship. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and to build trust and confidence with Board Members, donors and key volunteers. Ability to maintain confidentiality and high ethical standards. Must successfully complete various pre-employment requirements and comply with all provisions of the AFV Employee.</p> <p>Education and Computer Operations Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Required: A minimum of three to five years' non-profit experience and Associate's degree in Business Administration or General Business </li><li>Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use basic A/V equipment. </li><li>Preferred: Associate degree in Non-Profit Management, General Business, or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience. Demonstrate ability in creative thinking, evaluating relevant information, recognizing alternatives, and reaching logical conclusions based on evidence. </li><li>Preferred: Experience with donor database software, preferably Bloomerang. </li></ul> <p>Internal Control: Within the scope of position duties, responsible for seeing that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are complied with. This position will handle confidential information and must treat such with appropriate sensitivity.</p> <p>Physical/Environmental Demands: Work is generally performed indoors in a climate-controlled office setting. Occasional lifting and transfers of light loads of less than 30 pounds is required. Bending, squatting, and reaching are necessary as well as maneuvering in and between buildings and offices of the Blue Skies of Texas facilities and grounds. Few environmental hazards exist, although the threat of communicable disease exists. Mild cleaning products, waxes, and soaps are used in the immediate area. Mild pesticides are used periodically to control bug infestation.</p> <p>Work Schedule: Core work hours are Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required to support special projects or assignments. This is a full-time salaried position with the majority of work performed during standard business hours.</p> <p>Work Location: Primary office location for this position is the AFV Corporate office located at Blue Skies of Texas West Campus, however, will travel to & from East & West campuses is an essential function of this job.</p> <p>Attire/Dress Code: Conservative business attire is required. Employees are expected to maintain a professional appearance at all times when representing Blue Skies of Texas.</p> <p>RANGE OF PAY: Dependent on qualifications and experience; competitive within market standards.</p> <p>In 1970, the first of our two campuses opened in San Antonio. Air Force Village I was followed in 1987 by Air Force Village II. For decades, our campuses created a community for officers of the armed forces - a retirement lifestyle rich with camaraderie and the shared common bond. We began by providing support to the widows of those who have served, and that legacy continues. In 2014, we expanded our eligibility to embrace a wider range of retired seniors, including those from civilian careers. With this change, a new name - Blue Skies of Texas - was added, and the campuses were renamed Blue Skies East and Blue Skies West.
