<p>Jr/Sr High Counselor.</p> <p>SUMMARY:</p> <p>School Counselor will assist students in areas of academic achievement, personal and social development, and career exploration. Encouraging students to establish personal and vocational goals that will allow growth in their strengths, weaknesses, and interest preparing them for future success.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Counsel students about their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, as well as vocational and educational planning. </li><li>Collect and organize information about students through records, tests, and interviews. </li><li>Foster student motivation in their areas of interests, aptitudes, abilities and personal characteristics for growth and development. </li><li>Find strategies to keep students focused and enthusiastic about their education and future prospects. </li><li>Assist students in understanding and managing social and emotional difficulties through individual and group counseling. </li><li>Refer students to appropriate services, when needed. </li><li>Counsel students with behavior concerns. </li><li>Communicate and facilitate excellence while aligning with the best interest of the students. </li><li>Assume faculty leadership roles when called upon to do so. </li><li>Balance administrative requirements with demands of student's needs. </li><li>Serve as an outstanding role model for our students and community. </li><li>Performs other duties as may be assigned by the principal/supervisor. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate and participate as part of a team-oriented faculty, </li><li>Ability to expect excellence from students and him/herself. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION:</p> <ul> <li>Counselors must possess a valid Indiana License in Counseling or actively working toward this credential. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work with Staff and Students in a Jr/Sr High School Setting </li></ul> <p>Health Insurance</p> <p>Dental Insurance</p> <p>Vision Insurance</p> <p>Life Insurance</p> <p>Paid Time Off</p> <p>Retirement</p> <p>Health Savings Plan</p>
