<p>Clarksville-Montgomery County School System</p> <p>CLARKSVILLE-MONTGOMERY COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM</p> <p>CLARKSVILLE, TENNESSEE</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Job Title: Burt Innovation Center Administrator Department: Instruction</p> <p>Grade: 506C</p> <p>Calendar: 225 Days</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Date Reviewed: May 2025 Reports To: Director of High Schools</p> <p>Purpose of Job</p> <p>The purpose of this position is to provide overall leadership, management, supervision, and strategic development of current and future programs housed at the Burt Innovation Center, to include the Middle College and the Entrepreneurship Hub, in collaboration with business/industry and higher education partners.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Serves as building principal over all programs housed at the Burt Innovation Center, supervising all staff assigned to the location. </li><li>Leads the design, and implementation, oversight, and expansion of the Entrepreneurship Hub's program operations. </li><li>Oversees daily school operations, including coordination of student support services, scheduling, attendance, and discipline. </li><li>Collaborates with the communications department to develop marketing materials that showcase programs available at the Burt Innovation center. </li><li>Coordinates with traditional high school principals to schedule and conduct informational meetings for students to make them aware of the non-traditional program offerings available at the Burt Innovation Center. </li><li>Facilitates the application, interview, and selection process for Middle College and Entrepreneurship Hub applicants; hosts annual parent information sessions and program tours. </li><li>Provides conceptual guidance for teachers regarding effective classroom practice. </li><li>Monitors the effectiveness of school practices and their impact on student learning. </li><li>Provide visionary leadership that integrates all legal mandates and stakeholder needs. Ensure board and school policies are followed. </li><li>Visit classrooms in a systematic and frequent manner, observe, and evaluate teachers. Create professional and collegial learning communities for faculty and staff </li><li>Conducts student body meetings each semester to build school culture and communicate expectations. </li><li>Serves as liaison with Austin Peay State University (APSU) personnel from multiple departments; assists with student registration and acquisition of college course materials. </li><li>Collaborates with zoned school administrators and counselors to support student scheduling and success. </li><li>Coordinates site-based professional development sessions for Middle College and Entrepreneurship Hub teachers. </li><li>Supports the development and maintenance of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between APSU and CMCSS. </li><li>Participates in professional learning activities to ensure awareness of current trends in post-secondary readiness, educational innovation, and entrepreneurship. </li><li>Manages renovations and expansion projects at the Burt Innovation Center. </li><li>Visits established Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center sites to inform local implementation and evaluation of the concept. </li><li>Coordinates with transportation and zoned schools to ensure program accessibility for the Entrepreneurship Hub classes. </li><li>Builds and maintains relationships with business and industry partners to create a robust mentor network and internship pipeline. </li><li>Champions the program publicly, building long-term support from stakeholders. </li><li>Coordinates and ensures supervision of before and/or after school events </li><li>Collects and analyzes data related to student outcomes, program participation, community involvement, and alumni success. </li><li>Works with the CMCSS Professional Development team to coordinate facility usage at Burt, including room and parking logistics. </li><li>Coordinates and organizes annual cross-agency meetings with APSU, CMCSS, and the Sheriff's Department to prepare for CMCSS graduations. </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Functions</p> <p>Performs other duties as required.</p> <p>Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree with valid Tennessee teaching certification with administrator K-12 endorsement. </li><li>Minimum three years successful classroom teaching experience. </li><li>High school administrator experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE OF JOB</p> <p>Has general knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the School System and transportation practices as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the jobBurt Innovation Center and Middle College. Has general knowledge of practices as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities. Knows how to develop and administer operations and staff plans and objectives for the expedience and effectiveness of specific duties of the department. Knows how to keep abreast of any changes in policy, methods, equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental operations and activities. Is able to effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, members of the general public and all other groups involved in the activities of the department. Is able to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear, and effective manner. Have good organizational, human relations and technical skills. Is able to use independent judgment and work with little direct supervision when necessary. Has the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures and related information. Has comprehensive knowledge of the terminology, principles, and methods utilized within the department. Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <p>REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to do occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of up to 40 pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping or kneeling; </li><li>Must be able to traverse school facility; </li><li>Must have significant fine finger dexterity; </li><li>Must be able to operate standard office equipment including pertinent and required software applications; </li><li>Must possess excellent language skills (verbal and written) requiring the ability to read informational documentation, directions, instructions, policies and procedures related to this job, requiring the ability to give assignments and/or directions to co-workers, assistants, supervisors, students and parents/guardians, requiring the ability to deliver verbal and written communications in English language; </li><li>Must possess excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with people (staff, supervisors, parents/guardians, students) and maintain professionalism and tact in all situations, including emergent ones, must be able to maintain constructive relationships; </li><li>Must possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; </li><li>Must be able to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with periodic need to enhance skills in order to meet changing job conditions. </li><li>Must be able to apply assessment instruments and analyze data and possess problem-solving skills. </li><li>Must be able to make independent judgments in absence of supervision. </li></ul> <p>NUMERICAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract totals; multiply and divide; determine percentages; determine time and weight.</p> <p>FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape, visually.</p> <p>PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (talking - expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words).
