The Center has been serving the university community for 50 years and offers both flexible and full-time scheduling options to UWM student, faculty/staff, and alumni families. The UWM Children's Learning Center is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).</p> <p>The UWM Children's Center is dedicated to integrating diversity and family support programs along with coordinating ways to ensure innovative approaches to early education. Learn more about the UWM Children's Center Curriculum Philosophy here: www.uwm.edu/children</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Lead Teacher is responsible for curriculum, staff performance, environment and communication in a year-round, full-day 4K kindergarten classroom. The person in this position is responsible for understanding and communicating the needs of children and their families, and the interrelationship between these needs and the Center. Teachers must maintain in-service and continuing education requirements as mandated by DPI, state licensing and accreditation.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Applicants for this position must have:</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree in Education or NAEYC equivalent </li><li>A WI DPI license to teach kindergarten is required upon start date and must be maintained during incumbency </li><li>Certification in hands-on Pediatric First Aid, AED and CPR is required upon start date and must be maintained during incumbency. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Highly qualified candidates will also have:</p> <ul> <li>A minimum of two years documented experience teaching children 3-6 years of age </li><li>Documented experience in a campus child care program </li><li>Evidence of strong communication and organizational skills </li><li>Evidence of the ability to work well in a complex, team environment with both professional and student staff </li><li>Evidence of a working knowledge of child development </li><li>Documented ability to apply knowledge of child development to both curriculum development and its implementation in the classroom </li><li>Evidence of the ability to understand and communicate children's development and needs to families. </li></ul> <p>Target Salary Range $42,000 Benefits and Total Rewards</p> <p>As part of UWM's commitment to supporting the success of our team members through positive experiences, employees are provided with Benefits to Benefit You and Your Life.
