<p>Description</p> <p>Hennepin County's Behavioral Health area has an exciting opportunity for an experienced mental health professional with an interest in staff supervision and the desire to develop, implement, and guide the operations of the Behavioral Health Center (BHC) in Minneapolis. The BHC is a walk-in center that serves the immediate care needs of Hennepin County residents 18+ living with substance use disorders and/or mental health conditions. We are seeking a Social Work Unit Supervisor to join a supervisory team that provides leadership to a multidisciplinary team to provide on-site coverage, oversight of high-quality care, and team supervision. The BHC is a fast-paced environment that requires situational awareness, active engagement, and problem solving in real-time.</p> <p>This position will supervise staff including but not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Case Management Assistants </li><li>Case Managers/Social Workers/Senior Social Workers/Senior Psychiatric Social Workers </li><li>Peer Support Specialists/Community Health Workers/Senior Community Health Workers </li></ul> <p>Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. The walk-in services are currently available daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and work hours will be primarily between the hours of 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Shift schedules will be assigned upon hire. Candidates must be available to work various shifts that include evening and weekend hours. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.</p> <p>About this position type:</p> <p>This is a full-time, benefit-earning position.</p> <p>This position is internally classified as Social Work Unit Supervisor.</p> <p>Click here to view the job classification specification.</p> <p>In this position, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Provide onsite clinical supervision and operations oversight during operating hours in collaboration with a supervisory team. </li><li>Engage community partners and internal and external stakeholders through tours, presentations, workgroups, consultation, and debriefing. </li><li>Provide leadership and change management during expansion and iteration of services, including but not limited to participation in quality improvements, training, implementation, and monitoring. </li><li>Provide supervision to individual contributors including but not limited to hiring, onboarding, training, performance management and reviews, workforce development, and enforcement of labor agreements and personnel rules. </li><li>Provide team supervision including but not limited to establishing and maintaining team dynamics; upholding Hennepin County mission, vision and values; establishing agendas and facilitating meetings; writing policy and procedure; implementing or clarifying workflows; coordinating staff training; assigning work; and providing coverage for team when needed. </li><li>Provide oversight including but not limited to determining program goals and objectives, data collection and reporting, monitoring documentation, quality improvement and quality assurance activities, collaborating with community partners, and ensuring completion on tasks and workplans. </li><li>Engage in disparity reduction and health equity work within Behavioral Health. </li><li>Implement pilot programs or new initiatives within Behavioral Health. </li></ul> <p>Need to have:</p> <ul> <li> <p>One of the following:</p> </li><li> <p>Master's degree or higher in social work or closely related field (or licensed as a graduate social worker by the Minnesota Board of Social Work) and three or more years of experience as a social worker.</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or human services, and 27 or more quarter credits of graduate work in areas such as social work methods, human growth and behavior, and/or principles of social welfare, and four or more years of supervised experience as a social worker.</p> </li><li> <p>Six or more years of experience as a Senior/Psychiatric/Child Protection Social Worker in Hennepin County.</p> </li><li> <p>Licensure in the State of Minnesota as one of the following:</p> </li><li> <p>Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) by the Minnesota Board of Social Work</p> </li><li> <p>Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)</p> </li><li> <p>Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)</p> </li><li> <p>Licensed Psychologist (LP)</p> </li><li> <p>A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Hennepin County driver's permit and access to reliable transportation to travel primarily within the metro area to possibly transport and/or meet with persons in their residential or community settings.</p> </li></ul> <p>Nice to have:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience:</p> </li><li> <p>Serving individuals living with mental health conditions and/or substance use disorder.</p> </li><li> <p>Working in a supervisory or lead position.</p> </li><li> <p>Working with suicide prevention and intervention research and best practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Serving individuals with criminal justice involvement, or experience working with law enforcement or sheriff's office.</p> </li><li> <p>Engaging with diverse staff and clients that includes efforts towards disparity reduction.</p> </li><li> <p>Working with electronic health record documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of:</p> </li><li> <p>County and community resources for mental health, substance use disorder, social services, and basic needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Cultural differences in beliefs and practices relating to mental health, treatment, family structure, and dynamics.</p> </li><li> <p>Trauma-informed care principles.</p> </li><li> <p>Ethics, rules, and statutes related to mental health services.</p> </li><li> <p>Social determinants of health.</p> </li><li> <p>Diversity and inclusion strategies with a focus on disparities reduction.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to:</p> </li><li> <p>Function well in unpredictable and challenging situations calling for sensitivity, flexibility, resourcefulness, and independent judgment.</p> </li><li> <p>Problem-solve in a very fast paced environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Build effective partnerships with internal and external partners.</p> </li><li> <p>Effectively interact with people from diverse backgrounds and/or populations who experience health disparities.</p> </li><li> <p>Work well in a group setting and be accountable to the team.</p> </li></ul> <p>Candidates with fluency in another language(s) in addition to English are encouraged to apply.
