<p>Director of Production Control & Purchasing - (1140) (Full Time)</p> <p>Location: Windsor, CT</p> <p>The Company</p> <p>Aero Gear is a global supplier of aerospace gears and gearbox assemblies to top OEMs such as Pratt & Whitney, GE, AVIO, Collins, Rolls Royce and Sikorsky. The outlook for the company is strong as it continues to set higher goals for sustained success together.</p> <p>The Position</p> <p>Aero Gear is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented, innovative leader with a strategic and financial mindset to fill this key management role. You will operate in an environment involving the procurement of raw materials, as well as key components, such as machined parts, bearings and hardware to support our assembly operations. You will be deeply involved with planning, production control and inventory management and the performance of factory operations.</p> <p>This individual will develop and implement robust systems and processes to ensure the efficient flow of materials, maximize production output, minimize costs, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. The Director will lead and mentor a team of production planners, schedulers, buyers, and inventory control specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.</p> <p>Overall, you will be comfortable both in the world of planning, purchasing and supplier management, as well as operations. There will be many opportunities to apply your prior experience in continuous improvement utilizing Kaizen and lean manufacturing techniques to optimize our operations.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement robust systems and processes to ensure the efficient flow of materials, maximize production output, minimize costs and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction. </li><li>Lead and mentor a team of production planners, schedulers, buyers and inventory control specialists, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. </li><li>Project monthly and extended positional outlook. </li><li>Determine and publicize weekly shipment goals. </li><li>Oversee parts factory-wide, from material purchase order placement to part shipment. </li><li>Review and manage material release schedule according to changes. </li><li>Collaborate in business unit scheduling to coordinate customer and company objectives. </li><li>Communicate and drive product priorities through support functions and shared resources. </li><li>Maintain awareness of current critical parts to fruition. </li><li>Work with area managers to identify and solve delivery and constraint issues. </li><li>Elevate unsolvable delivery issues relative to customer commitments in a timely manner. </li><li>Provide estimated part completions and part status information in production meetings. </li><li>Collaborate with sales team on parts status updates and accurate completion dates. </li><li>Ensure purchased and manufactured details support gearbox build schedule. </li><li>Monitor schedule changes, working with sales to correct if necessary. </li><li>Utilize Kaizen and lean manufacturing techniques to optimize operations for continuous improvement initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Strong organizational skills required. </li><li>Operate with a sense of urgency while always focusing on safety and quality. </li><li>Strong written, verbal communication and computer skills. </li><li>Able to navigate various computer software programs in support of position. </li><li>Excellent attitude and teamwork. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications, Experience and Education</p> <p>If you are a person with a background in purchasing and supply management, and/or prior experience in planning, production control, manufacturing operations or lean manufacturing roles - you could be a good fit for this position. We work in a team-based environment, so you would be leading a strong team and would need to provide clear goals and objectives, while maintaining strong communication and alignment of the team as a cohesive, cross-trained unit. You will work closely with senior company management, factory business units and customers, so you will need to display excellent organization, communication and presentation skills.</p> <p>A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required.APICs training and/or APICS CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) and/or APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) certifications would be a plus.</p> <p>Experience in aerospace manufacturing is required.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibility</p> <p>This position has supervisory responsibilities.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
