<p>POSITION: Agriculture Teacher (full-time)</p> <p>LOCATION: Whitko Career Academy, Larwill, IN</p> <p>WORK SCHEDULE: Contracted Teacher Day - 184 Day Contract</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <ul> <li>This position is a full-time, permanent Agriculture Teacher at the Whitko Career Academy beginning April 17, 2023. The Whitko Career Academy, in conjunction with Whitko Community Schools, provides a quality Career and Technical Education Program to students. </li><li>The Whitko Career Academy is seeking an experienced, energetic, engaging professional with a genuine interest in teaching high school students a mix of theoretical and hands-on skills of agriculture. Major topics include plant science, food science, animal science, horticulture, natural resources, and agriculture power and technology. </li><li>Applicants must possess a 5-12 Agricultural Teaching License or be able to obtain an Indiana Workplace Specialist Teaching License, and meet continuing education requirements to maintain teaching certification. </li><li>Applicants should have industry recognized credentials and/or certifications that pertain to the position. College degree in an agriculture related field is preferred, but not required. We embrace our responsibility in developing a caring school community that enables all students to become active and productive members of our diverse and ever-changing global society. </li><li>Additional information on the Whitko Community School District may be found at www.whitko.org. </li></ul> <p>Instructional topics include:</p> <p>Introduction to Agriculture, Advanced Food Science, Advanced Animal Science, Advanced Plant Science.</p> <p>Key areas include:</p> <ul> <li>Utilize a curriculum map, plan lessons, deliver assessments, etc, </li><li>Instruct and demonstrate how to apply knowledge and to develop skills </li><li>Demonstrate and supervise the safe and proper use of tools and equipment </li><li>Monitor students' progress, assign tasks, and grade assignments </li><li>Discuss students' progress with parents, students, and counselors </li><li>Develop and enforce classroom rules and safety procedures </li><li>Meet expectations as assigned by administration </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Agriculture 5-12 teaching license or </li><li>Workplace Specialist license in Agriculture field as detailed below: </li></ul> <p>Eligibility for the Workplace Specialist I License:</p> <p>Workplace Specialist I: Initial (Two-year license)</p> <ul> <li>Minimum requirement: High School Diploma. A first applicant must send in a photocopy. </li><li>Must be twenty-one (21) years of age </li><li>Employment in an accredited educational program to teach in a specific vocational area. If working through the Department of Corrections, the applicant must submit a letter on DOC letterhead indicating that employment will occur if license is obtained. </li><li>Occupational experience (Select one): </li><li>5,000 hours (about 2.5 years of experience) in the last five (5) years. </li></ul> <p>Eligibility for the Workplace Specialist I License (continued):</p> <ul> <li>4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and demonstration of occupational competency tests. </li><li>4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and evidence of occupational licensure or occupational proficiency based on approved regional, state, or national board training and evaluation. </li><li>4,000 hours (about 2 years) in the past ten (10) years and completion of an accredited 2-year or higher degree in the specific certification area </li><li>4,000 hours (about 2 years) in thhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeb5iv_rp1l3-3KMPgSsa-DfnYQnNPN2Gc_Rs8Xxwz3tEIJ8w/viewform?usp=sf_linke past ten (10) years and completion of an apprenticeship or internship program. </li></ul> <p>Note: All occupational experience must be verified by submitting letters from current or former employees specifying and considering the following:</p> <ul> <li>job titles and duties; </li><li>hours worked per week; </li><li>starting/ ending dates; </li><li>the name and title of the employer; </li><li>must be on company letterhead; </li><li>only work experience in the certification area will be accepted; </li><li>verification for self-employed: Submit the Profit/Loss statements from the federal income tax returns. </li></ul> <p>Sick and personal days, health, dental and vision coverage offered, 403B retirement, TRF retirement, holidays off, weekends off, AD & D insurance coverage</p>
