<p>The Berlin-Boylston Regional School District is a small, high-achieving school district in Central Massachusetts. We have an opening for a Teacher of Students with Severe Disabilities in our substantially-separate Bridges program. The Bridges Program serves students with intensive learning, behavioral, social, and communication needs who require highly individualized, data-driven instruction based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)* in order to access the curriculum. The program is designed to ensure meaningful access to the general curriculum while promoting student independence in the least restrictive environment (LRE) appropriate to their needs.</p> <p>TITLE: Special Education Teacher, Severe</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS 1.Massachusetts Certification in Special Needs, Severe</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Training and experience with students with severe disabilities, diagnostic testing, and behavior modification preferred </li></ol> <p>POSITION GOAL: To provide inclusion and pull-out-based special education support for students.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Building Principal</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following: 1.Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP. Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals, including technology and adaptive equipment. 2.Coordinates the timely delivery of special education services in each student's IEP. Creates a positive learning experience with emphasis on individualized instruction using appropriate resources. Assists in coordinating the various related services provided to students. 3.Selects, adapts, constructs, checks and maintains instructional equipment and supplies appropriate to the program area, needs of students and safety concerns. 4.Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures. Confers with staff regarding behavior management planning and implementation. 5.Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques. Records pupil progress accurately and in a timely fashion. 6.Actively participates in meetings and serves as liaison to the parent, general education teachers, and other service providers, including community service providers (i.e., social services, public health, counselors, etc.). 7.Conducts special education evaluations and reevaluations, including scoring and providing a written evaluation report. 8.Develops and implement annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans in collaboration with parents and other staff. 9.Provides direction, supervision, and evaluation of paraprofessionals as needed.</p> <ol start="10"> <li>Complies with District policies and all state/federal rules and regulations. </li><li>Completes all district and state reporting requirements. Maintains scholastic, attendance, and other required records. 12.Continues individual professional growth. 13.Perform other school-related duties as directed by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services and the Building Principal. </li></ol> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months, salary, and work year as specified in the current teachers' contract.</p> <p>EVALUATION: Evaluation of this position will take place annually in accordance with the School Committee policy on the evaluation of a teacher.</p>
