We are an equal opportunity employer; no information obtained during the recruitment/selection process is intended for any discriminatory purposes.</p> <p>Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule</p> <p>Grade: 113</p> <p>Salary: $14.78 - $16.32 hourly (Dependent on Qualifications)</p> <p>Department: Parks & Recreation - Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve</p> <p>E-mail: NicoleP2@cctexas.com</p> <p>ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS:</p> <p>40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with Rotating Saturdays. Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The objective of this position is to maintain the Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve's facilities, rights of way, grounds, and natural areas to Preserve standards. The principal function of this position is to maintain natural areas up to Preserve standards.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Mow (for environmental reasons), plant native plants, de-weed garden beds, water freshly planted plants, edge the trails; knowledge of native plants and animals is necessary </li><li>Operate blowers, weed-eaters, mowers, zero-turn mowers, City vehicles, mules, power tools, and electric carts </li><li>Remove invasive species either by hand or by chemical means including: Guinea grass, Brazilian pepper tree, white lead tree, giant reed, blue stem grass, fire ants, etc. </li><li>De-weed garden beds, pull undesired grasses, control and inspect irrigation, mow sod grasses, fertilize grass beds </li><li>Clean trails and grounds from trash and debris including vandalism such as removing graffiti from signs and sidewalks </li><li>Assist the Tech III and Preserve Manager with special projects including: overlook building, fencing, large restoration projects, unidentified plant species identification, trail maintenance, etc. </li><li>Lead volunteers in restoration and natural projects </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Skills, Licenses, Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of native plants and animals is necessary </li><li>Knowledge of restoration techniques and basic protocol </li><li>Must be able to work under outdoor elements including heat, cold, inclement weather and exposure to sun </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires High School Diploma/GED </li><li>Minimum 2 years of experience </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>A valid driver's license is required.
