<p>Position Title: Assistant Band Director</p> <p>Qualifications: Must hold proper Arkansas teacher certification - Instrumental</p> <p>Music Education (6-12)</p> <p>Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal/Director of Bands</p> <p>Terms of Employment: 205 days with benefits according to Siloam Springs School</p> <p>Board policies</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with the district Director of Bands to establish curriculum and philosophy that ensures the success and encouragement of all students in the band program </li><li>Teach two like-instrument beginning band classes </li><li>Team teach middle school band classes </li><li>Assist with all aspects of High School Band </li><li>Attend all performances, events, and after-school rehearsals as assigned by the district Director of Bands </li><li>Collaborate with other band directors/teachers in professional learning communities </li><li>Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly </li><li>Create positive educational climate for students </li><li>Establish classroom behavior expectations and procedures </li><li>Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress </li><li>Effectively implement district initiatives </li><li>Refer students for alternative services as provided by the district (ESL, Special Education, G/T, etc) </li><li>Participate in curriculum review and design </li><li>Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives. </li></ul> <p>OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations </li><li>Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors </li><li>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities </li><li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation </li><li>Serve on committees as assigned </li></ul>
