<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Campus Title: College and Career Success Coach</p> <p>State Title: Career Planning and Development Assistant (SL-1); Senior Career Planning and Development Associate (SL-3)</p> <p>Bargaining Unit: UUP-08; view our generous state benefits summary here!</p> <p>Professional Rank and Salary Range: SL-1, $43,372 - $47,000; SL-3, $55,151 - $60,000</p> <p>Duration: Calendar Year (this position works 12-month)</p> <ul> <li>Please note, this position is located at our Syracuse EOC location! </li></ul> <p>SUNY Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) seeks a College and Career Success Coach to support our Student Personnel Services department.</p> <p>Since 1969, the Syracuse EOC has provided adult learners with "a second educational chance." Faculty and staff continue to share the Center's mission to improve our students' academic and vocational skills and expand their educational and employment opportunities. Our goal is to be a resource to the community and a leader in vocational and workforce development education.</p> <p>The Student Personnel Services department ensures students gain the academic, social, and emotional support needed to complete their chosen program. Our goal is to enable an empowering student journey from recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and graduation, to job security. An empowering student journey is a process that centers on student's voices, affirms their whole identities, and actively facilitates their sense of belonging and self-efficacy. In our department, we believe every student deserves to learn in this environment, and every professional must be given the tools, professional learning, and support to make it possible.</p> <p>Brief Description of Duties:</p> <p>The College and Career Success Coach will provide guidance and support to graduating students as they transition to the next stage of their lives, whether that involves pursuing higher education or entering the workforce. This position will collaborate closely with the student services department to ensure that each student has a personalized plan for success upon leaving the adult education center. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of educational pathways and job market trends, along with a passion for helping students achieve their goals.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Student Advising:</p> <ul> <li>Provide one-on-one coaching to graduating students, helping them explore their options for college or employment. </li><li>Assist students in identifying their strengths, interests, and career goals to develop tailored action plans. </li></ul> <p>College Preparation:</p> <ul> <li>Guide students through the college application process, including selecting programs, completing applications, and securing financial aid. </li><li>Offer workshops on college readiness topics such as study skills, time management, and navigating campus resources. </li></ul> <p>Career Development:</p> <ul> <li>Support students in job search strategies, including resume writing, interview preparation, and networking skills. </li><li>Collaborate with local employers and workforce development agencies to identify job opportunities and internships for students. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration with Student Services:</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with the student services department to coordinate resources and support for students. </li><li>Ensure a seamless transition for students from the classroom to either college or the workforce by providing ongoing support. </li></ul> <p>Data Tracking and Reporting:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate records of student interactions and outcomes related to college and career placement. </li><li>Prepare reports on student success metrics to assess program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement. </li></ul> <p>Community Engagement:</p> <ul> <li>Build and maintain relationships with community colleges, universities, and local businesses to enhance opportunities for students. </li><li>Organize career fairs, college visits, and networking events to connect students with potential employers and educational institutions. </li></ul> <p>Professional Development:</p> <ul> <li>Stay informed about trends in higher education and employment opportunities for adult learners. </li><li>Participate in relevant training and professional development activities to enhance coaching skills. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Career Planning and Development Associate (SL-1):</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, career services, or a related field. </li><li>General experience in academic advising, career coaching, student support services, or related. </li></ul> <p>Senior Career Planning and Development Associate (SL-3)</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in education, counseling, career services, or a related field. </li><li>2+ years of academic advising, career coaching, student support services, or related. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse student populations. </li><li>Knowledge of college admissions processes and workforce development trends. </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>SUNY Morrisville is committed to creating a vibrant community enriched by diverse perspectives, talents and experiences, and prohibits discrimination in employment based on gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, physical capability, age, creed, sexual identity, veteran status, and economic means.
