<p>Performs specialized work processing property or liability claims. Performs a wide variety of complex clerical duties associated with processing, filing, and monitoring insurance claims and providing administrative support in assuring compliance with the provisions of the workers' compensation law, County insurance policies, self-insured programs, and County rules as they apply to general insurance. Receives incoming first reports of injury or damage for automobile and public liability claims; calls claimants, claimants' attorneys, adjusters, and others in processing claims. Researches the validity of complaints with applicable departments, sets up and transmits claims to the third-party administrator (TPA), and reviews claims for completeness and accuracy. Assists with data gathering to document validity of claims; consults with law enforcement agencies, attorneys, witnesses, various other outside agencies, and County departments. Ensures that claims are set up and processed in a timely manner; processes legal costs for depositions, court reporting, surveillance, and medical records fees; reconciles the payment ledger from TPA with the Clerk's Office weekly. Reviews Certificates of Insurance for compliance with contract terms. May assist Insurance Claims Specialists by providing guidance and direction regarding their assigned claims and providing backup for various functions in the absence of the Section Manager. Exercises a high degree of initiative and independent judgment pertaining to the application and interpretation of the workers' compensation law, insurance contract coverage, provisions, and guidelines. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior and is reviewed through observation and discussions.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of three (3) years of experience filing and processing property/liability or medical/workers' compensation insurance claims, which includes one (1) year of experience as an Insurance Specialist or related work.</p> <p>Necessary Special Requirement: Must obtain the Florida 4-40 Customer Representative License within six (6) months of hire.</p> <p>PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN/WITH: Legal, insurance coverage, and/or claims processing; interacting with claimants/attorneys/insurance carriers; writing/maintaining incident reports and insurance terminology (must specify on application). Also desirable: Florida Adjuster's License 620, Risk Management, or Paralegal Certification.</p> <p>Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment.</p> <p>THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.</p>
