<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Job Title: Special Education Elementary Teacher - Intensive Instruction Classroom</p> <p>Subject Area: Special Education</p> <p>Job Location: Brooklyn Elementary School</p> <p>Beginning: August 25, 2025</p> <p>Deadline: Open until filled</p> <p>Position Purpose -</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) program, Intensive Instruction Classroom (IIC). The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for curriculum and lesson planning and delivery, as well as assessing students and writing effective IEPs. The teacher will work closely with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to implement evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Uphold administrative regulations, school rules and policies as determined by state and local boards of education and negotiated agreements </li><li>Develop and implement Individual Education plans (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines. </li><li>Participate in Planning and Placement (PPT) meetings and use PPT findings to improve the student learning experience </li><li>Collaborate with BCBA, related service providers, and general education teachers to integrate ABA strategies into student programming. </li><li>Develop and implement strategies to meet the needs of students with a variety of disabilities. </li><li>Provide specialized instruction based on individual needs outlined in students' IEPs, including, but not limited to, Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trial Instruction. </li><li>Collect and analyze data on student performance and behavior, using data to drive instruction and modifications. </li><li>Play an active role as case manager in the PPT process, including reporting progress on goals/objectives, developing IEPs for annual reviews, and administering appropriate evaluations. </li><li>Use visual supports, assistive technology, and AAC tools as needed to support student needs. </li><li>Maintain a daily and weekly schedule of class plans and activities </li><li>Supervise and train paraprofessionals assigned to the program. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal or district administrators. </li></ul> <p>Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of special education principles, teaching strategies, and legal requirements. </li><li>Proficient in differentiated instruction and lesson design tailored to varied learning profiles. </li><li>Competence in data collection, analysis, and using student data to inform instruction. </li><li>Familiarity with relevant federal and state education laws and compliance practices. </li><li>Ability to effectively utilize educational technology and software systems. </li><li>Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. </li><li>Commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth. </li></ul> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to be all inclusive of every task or responsibility.</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or a related field.</p> <p>Appropriate CT Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Comprehensive Special Education, Grades PK-12 (065) </li><li>Comprehensive Special Education, Grades PK-12 (165) </li><li>112 Integrated Early Childhood/Special Ed., Birth-Kindergarten </li><li>113 Integrated Early Childhood/Elementary Education N-3 and Special Education N-K </li></ul> <p>Preferred: Master's degree in Special Education.</p> <p>Experience: Successful prior teaching experience in special education.
