<ul> <li>this role will be a minimum of two year contract through march of 2028* </li></ul> <p>Job Title: Workday Security Lead</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>The Workday Security Lead is responsible for the enterprise-wide design, governance, and optimization of the Workday security model. This senior-level role owns the Workday security architecture across domains, business processes, roles, and access controls, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and scalable security aligned with organizational and regulatory requirements. The Workday Security Lead partners closely with HR, Finance, Payroll, IT, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and executive leadership and serves as the primary authority for all Workday security strategy and execution, with a particular focus on regulated healthcare environments.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design and configure Workday security structures, including security groups, domain security policies, business process security, and role-based access controls. </li><li>Own and manage access governance processes, including provisioning and deprovisioning, role assignments, and segregation of duties enforcement. </li><li>Define, implement, and maintain enterprise standards for role design, access reviews, documentation, and audit evidence related to Workday security. </li><li>Lead Workday security audits and support SOX, SOC, and HIPAA control validation activities, including remediation planning and execution. </li><li>Develop, document, and enforce approval frameworks, monitoring controls, and security operating procedures for Workday. </li><li>Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Payroll, IT, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and executive leadership to align Workday security with business, regulatory, and risk management requirements. </li><li>Drive continuous improvement of the Workday security model to support scalability, operational efficiency, and strong internal controls. </li><li>Support Workday implementation initiatives by providing security design leadership, configuration guidance, and governance oversight. </li><li>Prepare and maintain clear documentation of security configurations, processes, and standards to support audits and knowledge sharing. </li><li>Monitor security-related issues, identify risks and gaps, and recommend enhancements to strengthen the overall Workday security posture. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise application security with significant ownership of Workday security. </li><li>Proven experience leading Workday security governance, audit readiness, and access controls in regulated environments. </li><li>Minimum of two full-cycle Workday implementations, specifically in a healthcare environment. </li><li>Deep expertise in Workday security design and configuration, including security groups, domain security policies, business process security, and role-based access. </li><li>Strong experience in access governance, including provisioning and deprovisioning, role assignments, and segregation of duties. </li><li>Hands-on experience leading or supporting SOX, SOC, and HIPAA control validation and remediation efforts. </li><li>Ability to define and maintain enterprise standards for role design, access reviews, documentation, and audit evidence. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce approval frameworks, monitoring controls, and security operating procedures. </li><li>Bachelor's degree or at least 7 years of equivalent experience in a related field. </li><li>Required certification in Workday Security Administration and/or Workday HCM Pro. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Preferred Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Information Security, Information Systems, or a related field. </li><li>Preferred professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or a related security certification. </li><li>Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders including HR, Finance, Payroll, IT, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and executive leadership. </li><li>Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in healthcare environments. </li><li>Proven ability to translate business and regulatory requirements into secure, scalable Workday security designs. </li><li>Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills to support governance and audit activities. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The Workday Security Lead operates in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment that brings together HR, Finance, Payroll, IT, Compliance, Cybersecurity, and executive stakeholders. The role centers on Workday as the primary enterprise platform, with a strong emphasis on security configuration, governance, and audit support in a regulated healthcare context. Work typically takes place in a professional office or hybrid corporate setting, using standard business technology, collaboration tools, and security monitoring solutions. The position focuses on strategic design and hands-on configuration work within Workday, frequent coordination with audit and compliance teams, and ongoing interaction with business process owners to ensure secure and efficient operations.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract position based out of Boston, MA.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $95.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
