To help the teacher achieve teaching</p> <p>objectives by working with individual students or small groups, making</p> <p>every effort to help them accomplish the skill levels of the class as a</p> <p>whole. To provide a well-organized, smoothly functional class</p> <p>environment in which students can take full advantage of the</p> <p>instructional program and available resource materials.</p> <p>PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assists the teacher according to the teacher's needs </li><li>Makes needed copies of classroom materials </li><li>Monitors students during classroom and play activities </li><li>Reads aloud or listens to children read </li><li>Prepares instructional materials and sets up equipment </li><li>Provides special help such as drilling with flash cards, spelling and play activities </li><li>Assists students at meal periods </li><li>Provides for students' physical needs as required and/or assigned </li><li>Maintains a clean and orderly classroom </li><li>Assist students from buses to restroom facilities, etc. </li><li>Escorts students on educational trips outside the classroom with the teacher and other appropriate adult support </li><li>Assists students in performing activities that have been initiated by the teacher </li><li>Assists with supplementary work for advanced pupils </li><li>Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work assigned by the teacher </li><li>Assists in setting up classrooms </li><li>Assists children in learning their names, addresses, telephone numbers, birthdays and parents' names </li><li>Hears requests for help, observes learning difficulties from pupils and reports such matters to teachers </li><li>Works with individual students or small groups on language development as outlined by the teacher </li><li>Serves as a bus monitor in transport of students as requested and/or needed </li><li>In upper grades the aide will work with assigned students as scheduled by the Campus Principal </li><li>In upper grades the aide will also be assigned to before and after school supervision and lunch duties </li><li>Performs such other duties as assigned by the Campus Principal or the supervising teacher. </li></ul> <p>Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors</p> <p>Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting</p> <p>Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching</p> <p>Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)</p> <p>Environment: Frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel</p> <p>Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress</p>
