<p>Job Opening: Delinquent Tax Clerk</p> <p>Department: Tax Claim Office</p> <p>Posting Date: June 1, 2025</p> <p>Salary: $34,452.60 Annually / $18.93 Hourly</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>The Delinquent Tax Clerk manages the collection of delinquent property taxes by processing payments as they are received.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <p>Under general supervision of the office manager:</p> <p>Processes delinquent tax payments as they are received through the mail or over the counter; cash certified bank checks or credit cards are accepted as payment; applies payment to appropriate property; generates receipt.</p> <p>Reviews hearing agreements upon receiving payments; applies payments accordingly; determines if property should be removed for sale.</p> <p>Receives and responds to calls regarding tax/payment questions; educates property owner/caller regarding payment and sale process; retrieves pre-printed phone sheet for corresponding property and documents conversation.</p> <p>Assists with the preparation for hearings; locates and organizes appropriate documentation; provides property owner with application and payment plan.</p> <p>Prepares and mails reminder and default notices.</p> <p>Receives and responds to requests for Repository Sale List; receives bid forms for properties on the Repository Sale List.</p> <p>Balances payments for all financial transactions daily; resolves any discrepancies. Reviews and settles daily transactions with manager.</p> <p>Secures cash and checks in safe at the end of each day.</p> <p>Assists with the preparation for sales conducted by the Tax Claim Bureau; researches phone numbers, makes phone calls, sorts mailings/postings.</p> <p>Assist at annual tax sales; process and collects payments for required documentation, prepares necessary paperwork, produces receipts.</p> <p>Performs other related duties.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>High school graduate or equivalent.</p> <p>Excellent math and communication skills.</p> <p>Strong phone and customer service skills.</p> <p>Attention to detail.</p> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Normal, good health.</p> <p>Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.</p> <p>Residence Requirement: The County of Delaware has a residency requirement for employees.
