<p>Duties</p> <p>SUMMARY</p> <p>This position is responsible for providing an atmosphere that is conducive to the learning situation,</p> <p>maintaining high standards of cleanliness, and doing preventive maintenance on equipment.</p> <p>GENERAL DUTIES</p> <ol> <li>Work cooperatively with the Building Principal, Lead Custodian, and Supervisor of Facilities </li></ol> <p>Management to ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the school plan.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Perform duties as assigned by the work schedule set by the Building Principal, Lead Custodian, </li></ol> <p>and Supervisor of Facilities Management.</p> <ol start="3"> <li> <p>Review schedule and work the shift as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Dust mop the gym floor, stage, and bleachers.</p> </li><li> <p>Dust mop and wet mop classroom floors and hallways.</p> </li><li> <p>Vacuum rugs and carpet floors.</p> </li><li> <p>Change light bulbs as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Empty trash and carry to dumpster.</p> </li><li> <p>Service, clean, and stock supplies in restrooms.</p> </li><li> <p>Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to</p> </li></ol> <p>specifications.</p> <ol start="11"> <li>Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent </li></ol> <p>damage to floors and fixtures.</p> <ol start="12"> <li>Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors and checking </li></ol> <p>electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not present.</p> <ol start="13"> <li>Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all </li></ol> <p>times</p> <ol start="14"> <li> <p>Assist with removing snow as needed and where appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Survey classrooms daily and dust/polish appropriate furniture, files, bookcases, and windowsills.</p> </li><li> <p>Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Clean corridors daily.</p> </li><li> <p>Scrub, mop, and disinfect restroom toilets and floors daily.</p> </li><li> <p>Clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.</p> </li><li> <p>Help keep grounds free of rubbish.</p> </li><li> <p>Clean chalkboards/marker boards and trays daily.</p> </li><li> <p>Report any major repairs needed to the Building Principal, Lead Custodian or Supervisor of</p> </li></ol> <p>Facilities Management.</p> <ol start="23"> <li> <p>Clean all cafeteria chairs, tables, and benches.</p> </li><li> <p>Disinfect door handles and door knobs as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Wash all interior windows daily. Classroom windows and exterior windows should be cleaned as</p> </li></ol> <p>needed.</p> <ol start="26"> <li> <p>Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities, as directed.</p> </li><li> <p>Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and waste.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform emergency repairs and/or cleaning services as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Keep storage rooms neat and orderly. Dispose of all cardboard.</p> </li><li> <p>Pick up and clean after any extracurricular activities or events.</p> </li><li> <p>Deep clean carpets and rugs.</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies and practices of the Board of Education and to all state</p> </li></ol> <p>and federal regulations which are applicable to custodial operations.</p> <ol start="33"> <li>Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare </li></ol> <p>facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.</p> <ol start="34"> <li>Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Building Principal, Lead Custodian and </li></ol> <p>Supervisor of Facilities Management.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ol> <li> <p>General knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs, carry up to 50 lbs, and push/pull up to 50 lbs.</p> </li></ol> <p>Salary/Benefits</p> <p>PAY: $20.73/hour</p> <p>https://www.gcsd9.net/district/employment-1/employment-opportunities</p> <p>How to Apply</p> <p>If you are interested in this position, please submit your request and qualifications in writing by 3:30 p.m.,</p> <p>Wednesday, May 14, 2025.</p> <p>Correspondence should be directed to:</p> <p>Granite City Community Unit School District 9</p> <p>Adam Garrett, Ed.
