<p>Under general supervision performs maintenance work in city buildings related to general carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting, electrical and mechanical functions.</p> <ul> <li>Performs preventative maintenance, monitoring, and repairs of plumbing, HVAC, electrical and mechanical functions and any other building maintenance projects as assigned. </li><li>Performs miscellaneous carpentry and masonry work. </li><li>Performs minor low voltage and phone wiring projects. </li><li>Perform minor electrical work. </li><li>Assists other building maintenance techs with remodeling projects. </li><li>Assists in performing security checks of facilities. </li><li>Performs various light cleaning tasks. </li><li>Sets up various city departments and buildings for various meetings and functions as required. </li><li>Responds to after hour emergency calls for service. </li><li>Performs snow and ice control measures including plowing, salting and shoveling. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Availability to receive and respond to emergency calls during all hours - including evenings and weekends. </li><li>Extensive knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, safety hazards, building codes, methods and practices used in construction, repairs and maintenance of buildings. </li><li>Ability to perform skilled hand and bench work. </li><li>Knowledge of HVAC systems, and related materials. </li><li>Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods and practice of painting trades. </li><li>Ability to read blueprints, building and construction plans. </li><li>Ability to identify safety hazards and abate them. </li><li>Ability to self-motivate and work independently. </li><li>Ability to follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Computer aptitude for training purposes of all building maintenance computer related facility functions including BAS (building automation systems), and security systems. </li><li>Snow plowing experience a plus. </li><li>Completion of vocational or apprenticeship program in carpentry/building trades. </li><li>Requires five years experience in various construction trades (carpentry, plumbing, or electrical) or in the building or facility maintenance field. </li><li>Valid Wisconsin Drivers License. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>HVAC experience </li><li>Boiler maintenance experience </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Tasks involve periods of sedentary work. </li><li>Times where exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. </li><li>Task involves period of time at a keyboard. </li></ul> <p>ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>None. This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. </li></ul> <p>SENSORY REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>The task requires close visual acuity to perform various activities. </li><li>The task requires oral communications ability. </li><li>The task requires sound perception. </li></ul>
