<p>Position Summary</p> <p>As the Food Production Assistant, you will be a lead worker and responsible for preparing and distributing food items. You will also be responsible for directing, assigning, and reviewing the work of the cooks and food service assistants in quantity food production, service activities, and ensuring compliance with sanitation and food safety standards.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>The starting rate of pay is $21.53/hour (approximately $44,800 annually), plus excellent benefits. A $.80 /hour night differential and an $.80 /hour weekend differential applies to worked shifts. A 12-month probationary period is required.</p> <p>Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/12.</p> <p>Job Details</p> <p>All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.</p> <p>All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.</p> <p>This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs., pushing 100 lb. food carts, climbing ladders, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, standing, sitting, and working on feet for extended periods of time. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.</p> <p>DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants will have the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with large scale (200+ meals/day) food production (e.g., food preparation, cooking, delivery, cleanup and/or maintaining food service sanitation and safety standards, etc.). </li><li>Experience leading a team or crew and delegating tasks, including training new team members. </li><li>Experience utilizing sanitation and safety standards applicable to a food service environment. </li><li>Experience with basic commercial food service equipment safety and operations including equipment such as conventional or CombiTherm ovens, mixers, blenders, Blixers, tray line, dish machines, etc. </li></ul> <p>Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with food service software such as Automate, TempTrak, CBORD, or other applicable nutrition software systems. </li><li>Experience in developing and maintaining new menu and recipe items. </li><li>Training and/or experience in food service inventory, requisitions and supplies. </li></ul> <p>Your letter of qualifications is limited to one (1) page.
