<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Are you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career? The South Carolina Human Affairs Commission is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply! This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.</p> <p>Under limited supervision, the Community Relations Consultant overseas a region, while assisting throughout the state's Community Relations and Outreach programs created to establish Community Relations Council (CRC) through the state.</p> <p>Responsibilities of the Community Relations Consultant:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Creates and recognizes through Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) advisory agencies and conciliation councils (local, regional, or statewide) in accordance with Section 3 of Article 1 of the State Constitution and the South Carolinas Human Affairs Law (SCHAL). Plans with elected and local leaders to create and/or revitalize Community Relation Councils throughout the state, i.e., conducting, planning, and training sessions. Provides booklet/on-line copies of 2020 Community and Race Relations Guide, to ensure proper establishment of CRC's and problems that can be addressed by local citizens.</p> </li><li> <p>Works with above named stakeholders, maintains communication, provides guidance and support to address issues at the local level (town, city, or county), thus contributing to resolving problems and issues in human affairs. Coordinates the use of mediation or other tools to assist resolve highly charged and divisive issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Implements the Community Relations Division Alert System, i.e., providing training statewide for local emergency management personnel, community grassroots leaders, churches, 501 (c) 3 organizations, and local citizenry; informs all of the benefits of maintaining harmony, while informing all of the possible economic/life losses possible when problems are allowed to escalate out of control.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates and manages special events for the Community Relations Division, in conjunction with partners from state colleges and universities, state and federal partners, stakeholders, and state citizens. Performs all other duties as required.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <p>A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience, e.g., community relations, mediation, human relations, training, and other work experiences contributing to promoting goodwill and the betterment of human affairs.</p> <p>Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application, if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant. Please note that some areas of the Agency may require an official, certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area, after hiring.
