<p>We are looking for a Chassis Controls In Vehicle Validation Engineer for all of Tesla's Vehicle Platforms. You will be responsible for validating and testing safety critical chassis controls software (Traction Control, Stability Control, Steering, ABS, etc). The role is part test execution but also part test design. You will spend most of your time at proving grounds in prototype vehicles and will be expected to not only execute maneuvers, but also be able to compile and change software and understand hardware change impact on the control systems and vehicle attributes.</p> <p>You will be part of a dynamic team that continuously works on innovative technologies. You will work directly with software, controls, and vehicle dynamics engineers to understand requirements, our attribute philosophy, and software/hardware changes to provide subjective and objective feedback and document results. You will directly contribute to safety critical software and vehicle attributes, redefining the industry in what driving a Tesla should feel like.</p> <p>The role will require dynamic and at limit in-vehicle driving as well as extensive travel to proving grounds around the world (30% travel).</p> <ul> <li>Execute in vehicle test cases </li><li>Create test cases and procedures </li><li>Document objective and subjective vehicle behavior feedback </li><li>Develop software understanding to efficiently translate changes to test requirements </li><li>Collaborate with engineers on software and hardware changes, solutions, and requirements </li><li>Seasonal travel to proving grounds around the world (30%) </li><li>Coordinate with truck logistics and proving ground logistics, ensuring we have the right parts at the right location, at the right time </li><li>Be proficient in software development workflows - able to compile software, change parameters, investigate issues on your own </li><li>Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience </li><li>Experience with auto cross, racing and/or at limit driving </li><li>Prior experience with in vehicle testing in semitrucks preferred </li><li>Excellent written communication skills </li><li>Ability to work against high-level goals without day-to-day oversight </li><li>Software scripting experience (Python or similar) preferred </li><li>Proving Ground certification preferred </li><li>CAN tools, data logging and/or electronic diagnostic equipment (oscilloscope or others) experience preferred </li></ul>
