Discover your opportunities at Yale!</p> <p>Position Focus</p> <p>The Senior Research Administration Business Analyst supports the successful oversight, maintenance, troubleshooting and knowledge of the University's eRA systems and data needs. This position will be interacting with the Office of Research Administration and Sponsored Research Reporting. This position is responsible to plan, coordinate, and monitor Research Administration data, business processes, and related systems to ensure operational, procedural and regulatory requirements are met. Perform project management activities which include planning, designing, implementing and maintaining business intelligence and eRA system applications. Research and analyze strategic system choices (within the Office of Research Administration (ORA) and makes recommendations to achieve the goals and objectives of the University's business needs. Provide strategic direction and oversight of Reporting to meet the University's business needs and facilitate mechanisms for effective and efficient outreach between ORA and the University data needs. Serve as an active liaison between ITS and ORA offices and be a key member of the RADIO team.</p> <p>Required Skills or experience</p> <ol> <li> <p>Experience with relational database systems and tools (e.g., SQL and SQL query tools such as Oracle SQL*Plus) and form development tools (e.g. HTML, XML)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with data warehouse design and report writing; e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Cognos Analytics or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with complex ERP systems and/or enterprise research systems (i.e Coeus, InfoEd, Huron, Cayuse, Workday). Including experience working in business processes redesign including accurately documenting business processes and ERP systems' information architecture where the ability to be precise and attentive to detail is essential.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated experience utilizing critical thinking skills to proactively solve or mitigate problems, including anticipating issues, identifying solutions and providing appropriate communication to impacted parties, ability to work with a wide range of individuals with varying sophistication and information needs to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Hold exceptional written and oral communication skills and the ability to facilitate group activities</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Skills/Education/Experience:</p> <ol> <li>Experience in a higher education or government organization, preferred. </li></ol> <p>Principal Responsibilities</p> <ol> <li>Develops the initial project charter and clarification of the project scope, requirements, measurable outcomes, and project deliverables. 2. Works with respective process owners and using the business analytics, prepares the associated business case. Documents the "as is" and "to be" business processes using standard process modeling tools and process improvement methodologies. 3. Conducts thorough business case and external customer value analysis to determine selection, prioritization positioning and approach for broadest range of potential solutions (e.g., outsourcing, process improvements, and technology solutions). 4. Communicates compelling and concise analysis to enable business owners to make well informed decisions regarding options for problem resolution and opportunity realization. Reviews system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested system change is possible within existing system and is within the scope of the current project definition. 5. Gathers, compiles, and produces relevant business analytics on departmental performances including production of Performance Metrics and opinions/suggestions for improvement opportunities. 6. Develops and delivers quality analysis, reporting and presentation materials. 7. Responsible for requirements prioritization and solution risk analysis 8. Fully integrates baseline and metrics tracking into initiative planning and execution for optimal results. 9. Designs, plans, communicates and executes the departmental readiness plan. 10. Oversees, develops, facilitates and delivers training plans. 11. May perform other duties as assigned.
