<p>Job Title Diesel Mechanic First Shift 700am 300pm Location Butler Wisconsin Company Interstate Power Systems Interstate Power Systems is a leading provider of heavy duty truck construction equipment on and off highway equipment parts and service in the Midwest specializing in Freightliner Western Star and Detroit Diesel products With a commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction we serve commercial fleets owner operators and businesses across Wisconsin and beyond Our Butler location is at the heart of our operations offering a dynamic environment for skilled tradespeople to grow their careers The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair diagnostics and maintenance with a focus on delivering high quality service to ensure customer satisfaction This role offers highly competitive wages and opportunities for career growth in a dynamic work environment Key Responsibilities Diagnose and Repair Troubleshoot complex mechanical hydraulic electrical and electronic systems on heavy duty diesel trucks using advanced diagnostic tools schematics and technical manuals eg Cummins Insite Detroit Diesel Diagnostic LinkPerform Maintenance Conduct routine preventive maintenance including oil changes filter replacements tire inspections brake adjustments and chassis lubrication to ensure truck reliability and compliance with federal and state regulationsComponent Replacement Replace or repair critical components such as diesel engines transmissions differentials turbochargers or brake systemsDocumentation Complete detailed service reports document parts used and record maintenance activities for warranty billing DOT compliance and inventory purposesCustomer Interaction Communicate with fleet managers or drivers to explain repairs provide maintenance recommendations and ensure satisfaction with serviceSafety Compliance Adhere to OSHA DOT and company safety regulations maintain a clean work environment and follow manufacturer protocolsTool and Equipment Management Maintain and organize tools service vehicles and diagnostic equipment to ensure operational readiness for field serviceQualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in diesel mechanics or heavy duty truck repair preferredExperience 25 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy duty diesel trucks andor equipment eg Kenworth Peterbilt Freightliner Volvo or MackSkillsIn depth knowledge of diesel engines hydraulic systems electrical systems and electronic controls eg ECM diagnosticsProficiency with diagnostic tools eg Cummins Insite Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link or OEM software and handpower toolsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematicsStrong problem solving skills and attention to detailBasic welding and fabrication skills preferredExcellent communication and customer service skills for interacting with fleet managers and driversCertifications Manufacturer specific training eg Cummins Detroit Diesel Paccar or ASE Heavy Duty Truck certifications eg T2T8 series are a plusPhysical Requirements Ability to lift heavy parts up to 5075 lbs work in confined spaces eg under truck chassis and perform tasks in various weather conditionsDrivers License Valid drivers license required; CDL Commercial Drivers License with appropriate endorsements strongly preferredEmployee Benefits Competitive Wages Be paid your worthUniforms fully supplied by Interstate including cleaningTool program availableTuition assistance for educational and ongoing career growthHealth dental and vision coverage begins on the first day of the following monthPaid Time Off PTO starts accruing day one of your full time employmentHolidays 6 Holidays and 2 Floating Holidays per year401K with company matchingLong Term Disability SuppliedShort Term Disability SuppliedLife Insurance SuppliedHealthiest You Virtual Health Care paid by InterstatePPE Reimbursement Safety Glasses and Safety Boot ReimbursementPet Insurance We care about our furry friendsEmployee Discounts available on products and servicesPaid Employee Assistance Program Free 247 Access to a guidance consultant regarding life challenges you or family member may facePaid Health and Well being screening for employees and their spousePlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job Duties responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice Interstate Companies is an Equal Opportunity Employer and we encourage all qualified and interested persons to apply for this position by submitting a resume for consideration Military Friendly Hiring Mechanic Technician IPSRT</p>
