Our employees play a vital role in advancing sustainability, environmental justice, and clean energy solutions, ensuring a positive and lasting impact on Massachusetts and its residents.</p> <p>Buildings Analytical Intern</p> <p>This internship will support the Climate Analytics team in developing and validating a statewide building stock model (BSM.) The BSM will include every building in the state with relevant building characteristics either directly drawn from, or inferred from, available data sources. Building characteristics will include those relevant to building usage, energy performance (e.g., heating type, energy efficiency), socio-demographics (i.e., household income or size of business), neighborhood characteristics (e.g., EJ designation), census geographies (e.g., census block group), political geographies (i.e., municipality), and utility networks (e.g., electric substation).</p> <p>The major focus of this internship will be to assist in accessing and analyzing detailed building data to use in the BSM. The intern will also have the opportunity to participate in conversations regarding various modeling projects within state agencies.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Explore novel data sources such as permit data </li><li>Collect and format new data sources </li><li>Integrate new data into the building sector model database </li><li>Research commercial and industrial building stock data sources </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with Python or R </li><li>Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Excel </li><li>Experience with Data analytical tools such as PowerBI or Tableau </li></ul> <p>First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.</p> <p>Please see Preferred Qualifications.</p> <p>Comprehensive Benefits</p> <p>When you embark on a career with the Commonwealth, you are offered an outstanding suite of employee benefits that add to the overall value of your compensation package.
