<p>Department</p> <p>Environmental Health & Safety</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for acting as the Lead Fire Safety Officer, overseeing the daily operations and scheduling of all fire safety activities. Ensures fire safety protocols, inspections, and fire safety compliance are met. Acts on behalf of the Fire Safety Manager in their absence. Coordinates contracted services and repairs with outside vendors. Monitors, documents, maintains, and orders fire alarm system inventory and parts. Will coordinate with Facilities Accounting to create purchase orders or utilize a P-Card. This position will ensure that work orders get processed in a timely manner and are closed out. </li><li>Collaborates with other University departments and local fire authorities to ensure fire safety compliance. Assists in responding to the State Fire Marshals (SFM) office regarding SFM violations and corrections. Coordinates and schedules contractual services and inspections of fire systems and fire suppression systems/equipment. Schedules work activities within the fire safety teams to ensure code requirements are met. Assists in recruitment, training, direction, time and leave, performance evaluations, and staff development for the Fire Safety Team. </li><li>Responsible for implementing and maintaining the Enhanced Radio Communications Program. Ensures university buildings are up to the minimum required emergency signal strength. Investigate reports of unsafe conditions on campus related to fire and life safety. Provides interpretations of applicable codes for departments and individuals to alleviate safety hazards. Will provide plans review and inspections on an as-needed basis. </li><li>Provides guidance for corrective action for citations of Fire and Life Safety code deficiencies in Florida State University facilities. Performs building inspections and testing of fire systems to ensure compliance. </li><li>Responsible for Fire Safety-related functions, including conducting fire drills, training, inspections, and investigations for code compliance. Maintains a database of the activities associated with servicing, inspections, and repairs of fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems/equipment, and other associated devices or equipment. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in a related field or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience.
