<p>Job Type:</p> <p>Faculty</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Kansas City University seeks full-time or part-time faculty for a new Master of Health Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant Program in Joplin, Missouri. The faculty member will be responsible for contributing to the development of Anesthesiologist Assistant program and implementing said program through innovative pedagogy and digital technology designed for the adult learner.? The Master of Health Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant's educational program integrates topics of foundational biological sciences with systems-based, clinically-focused case studies to achieve the overarching objective of preparing students to become certified anesthesiologist assistants.</p> <p>Choice of topics include task trainer and high-fidelity simulation, POCUS, anesthesia monitors and machines, applied physics, preanesthetic evaluation and examination, cardiovascular and respiratory physiology, anesthesia pharmacology, sub-specialty anesthesia and surgery-specific protocols, quality improvement and patient safety.</p> <p>Time commitment is collaboratively negotiated between the program director and faculty, ranging from 0.2 to 1.0 FTE.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>The faculty member will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Develop, implement, deliver and evaluate instructional content and practical sessions for assigned courses by utilizing traditional and interactive teaching methods</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain course syllabi</p> </li><li> <p>Create and grade exams, quizzes and other assessments</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as an advisor, coach and/or mentor to MHS-AA students guiding their professional development</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in developing the goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for the Master of Health Science in Anesthesiologist Assistant program specifically, and as a collaborator with other KCU programs</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in scholarly activities and service in support of the department, with emphasis on annual accreditation requirements</p> </li><li> <p>Attend various university ceremonies, including white coating ceremony, graduations, and other special events</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in KCU meetings, as requested</p> </li><li> <p>Represent Kansas City University favorably and in accordance with the established Core Values and expectations</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned by supervising faculty or Program Director</p> </li></ul> <p>Candidates must demonstrate the ability to contribute to and participate in a humanistic environment of learning and discovery. Candidates should be highly motivated to be part of the development and growth of a new program and willing to serve as academic coaches and role models to students while providing compassionate, ethical, and evidenced based learning approaches.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Graduate of an accredited master's level health/medical sciences program or higher</p> </li><li> <p>Previous or continuing practice as a certified anesthesiologist assistant, physician assistant, physician, pharmacist, physical therapist, other APP, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Candidates should have effective organization, communication, verbal, and written skills, as well as proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software programs and online Learning Management Systems</p> </li><li> <p>Experience as a course director, team teaching, and mentoring students in research is preferred</p> </li></ul> <p>Clinical Opportunities: KCU has several clinical partners available for selection by candidates. Faculty will be employed by KCU or a clinical partner and leased to the other, depending on FTE.
