Campus Main Campus, Utica NY Date Position Available 01/01/2026 Posted Salary $63,500/year FLSA Status Exempt Benefits Eligible Yes If yes, please select: All Benefits</p> <p>Position Summary Information</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Child Life and Family Science department at Utica University is seeking an individual for a full-time, 10 month Professor of Practice position. The start date is January 1, 2026.</p> <p>Successful candidates will have backgrounds in Child/Human Development, Developmental</p> <p>Psychology, Child Life, Child/Family Science, Disability Studies, or related fields. Experience in</p> <p>child development, assessment, early intervention, or family science is desired. The Child Life &</p> <p>Family Science program is part of the School of Health Professional and Education at Utica</p> <p>University. This on-ground, full-time undergraduate program prepares students to work with</p> <p>children and families in various careers including, early childhood/childhood education, child</p> <p>life specialist, social services, and early intervention. Faculty in this position will teach a variety</p> <p>of child development/early education, early intervention, and family science courses.</p> <p>Responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activity, student advising, and service to the school</p> <p>and department, School of Health Professions and Education, Utica University, and the</p> <p>community.</p> <p>Location Utica, NY Application Deadline <em>Full consideration by</em>: 10/01/2025 Open Until Filled Yes Major Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Teach undergraduate courses addressing areas such as Child and Adolescent Development, Early Intervention, Observation and Assessment, Disabilities and Mental Health, and Child/Family Science; </li><li>Advise students in the major; </li><li>Help develop curriculum and field experience activities; </li><li>Collaborate with faculty and community stakeholders for program improvement; </li><li>Participate in program governance and assessment at the School and University levels as well as contribute to one's professional organizations; </li><li>Help create and/or assist with online, hybrid, and on-ground courses; </li><li>Participate in continuous assessment of program-level and student learning outcomes; </li><li>Develop research and participate in scholarly activity; </li><li>Develop and maintain positive community relations with relevant child and family agencies, child and family development centers, and other community outreach organizations; </li><li>Provide service to the University and professional organizations; and </li><li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Driving Responsibilities Travel Supervises Education Required Certification Required Education & Experience Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Relevant professional experience working with young children and families; </li><li>2+ years of teaching experience in child development, assessment, early intervention, child life, or family services; </li><li>Demonstrated success in education, research, and scholarly activities. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Candidates with terminal doctoral degrees in Child Development, Child/Family Sciences, Psychology, Disability Studies, or closely related fields are preferred, but </li></ul> <p>ABD candidates will be considered upon evidence of near completion of the degree.</p> <ul> <li>Experience teaching in higher education (e.g., college/university) online or in-residence; </li><li>Evidence of ability to teach a variety of child development, early intervention, observation and assessment, child life or child/family science courses; </li><li>Excellent professional skills including analytical, oral/written communication, teamwork, assessment, and organizational skills. </li></ul> <p>Applicant Documents Instructions</p> <p>To apply, submit a letter of application, CV, statement of teaching philosophy, statement of research interests and experience, and three reference letters.</p> <p>Reference letters will be solicited EEO/AA Statement</p> <p>Utica University is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and creating a welcoming work environment for all employees.
