<p>STAFF DENTIST</p> <p>Posting Dates 5/1/2025-5/30/2025</p> <p>Location - Toledo, OH</p> <p>Full-Time Position</p> <p>Flexible Hours - Can work 4-9 hour days or 5-8 hour days</p> <p>POSITION PURPOSE</p> <p>The Dentist is responsible for providing preventive and primary dental care consistent with the dentist's training and experience in a community health center setting to patients of HPWO.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES</p> <ul> <li>Supports open patient access to and coordination of care that is supported by information technology. </li><li>Examines individuals, requesting care, diagnoses their dental/oral conditions, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out appropriate dental/oral treatment, or refers individuals for specialty consultation or treatment in conformance with approved clinical protocols and guidelines. </li><li>Records patient-dentist transactions as they occur in the patient's dental record so that the dental record accurately and completely reflects the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient and the care or treatment provided. </li><li>Complete referrals, data collections instruments, and other records or paperwork as required by the Health Center. </li><li>Supervises dental residents and dental students, as needed. </li><li>Actively participate in the Dental Quality Improvement Program, and other health center committees as assigned. </li><li>Assists in the provision of continuing education, on-the-job training, and the orientation of community health center staff as requested. </li><li>Travels when necessary to fulfill HPWO's needs and attends meetings as necessary to represent HPWO. </li><li>Maintains and updates skills and knowledge to appropriate professional levels with continuing education courses and educational materials. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Education/Certification: DDS or DMD Dentist Degree or foreign equivalent; Ohio Dentist License; Ohio Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License. </li><li>Required Knowledge: Successful completion of in-house training </li></ul> <p>SKILLS/ABILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges is required. </li><li>Current Ohio DEA registration </li><li>Unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Ohio. </li><li>CPR - BLS (basic life support) required. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills </li><li>Knowledge of public health principles and practices </li><li>Ability to work with a culturally diverse staff and patient population </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with HPWO management and medical staff members. </li><li>Ability to lift 20-50 pounds. </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS</p> <ul> <li>$96.15 per hour and goes up based on experience </li><li>Paid Time Off (PTO) </li><li>Paid Holidays </li><li>403b Retirement with up to 8% match (starts at 3% and increases with time of service at HPWO) </li><li>Eligible to Apply for National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment </li><li>Continuing Education Money ($3,000 prorated the first year) that can be used for license, DEA, memberships, CE classes and travel expenses. </li><li>Employee Assistance Program </li><li>Annual Raises </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Work is primarily sedentary, demanding sitting, walking, lifting, and bending. Those physical movements and the degree of mobility, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination commonly associated with duties in an office setting will be performed repetitively. This also includes bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling, pushing, and walking. The ability to distinguish letters and symbols and utilize telephones, computer terminals, fax machines, and copiers is required. The work environment characteristics described here represent those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Working under stressful conditions, as well as irregular hours, may be required.</p>
