This role ensures that students receive appropriate educational services in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) regulations.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience and affinity for working with students that have diverse social, emotional and behavioral needs at all grade levels</p> </li><li> <p>Experience designing and consistently implementing individualized behavior plans based on data and research</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Works collaboratively to plan and implement instruction in a semi-self-contained SEL Program at the primary school</p> </li><li> <p>Works to create a positive classroom and school culture</p> </li><li> <p>Provides academic, social, emotional, and behavioral supports through the preparation and implementation of engaging, interactive lessons designed to ensure all students have access to and continue to make progress in the general education curriculum</p> </li><li> <p>Serves as case manager to assigned students, including the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on student's present levels of performance</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with and assists the Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) and general education teaching staff in implementing students' IEPs and the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts comprehensive diagnostic academic evaluations of students for the purpose of identifying learning issues and/or social-behavioral needs in order to recommend courses of action that maximize learning in multiple learning environments</p> </li><li> <p>Observes, collects data, and evaluates students' progress toward achieving IEP goals and objectives</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and shares reports on students' performance at Planning and Placement Team meetings and other informal parent meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents</p> </li><li> <p>Implements effective behavioral strategies and techniques based on students' needs</p> </li><li> <p>Provides meaningful and differentiated instruction for all academic content areas</p> </li><li> <p>Works with all staff to modify and accommodate for students with special needs to facilitate their access to classroom instruction, activities, field trips, recreational opportunities, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans for and oversees paraeducators' schedules and day to day interactions with students</p> </li><li> <p>Directs, schedules and assists in training paraprofessional staff to support student learning</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <p>Perform all other duties that may be assigned by the Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services and/or the Building Administrator</p> <p>Terms of Employment</p> <ul> <li> <p>188 Days</p> </li><li> <p>Based on the working agreement between the Watertown Board of Education and the Watertown Education Association</p> </li></ul> <p>All application materials must be submitted online, through Applitrack; should you have any difficulty in submitting your online application please contact (860)945-4813.</p> <ul> <li>District reserves the right to close the posting if a suitable candidate is found prior to the external closing date. </li></ul> <p>Attachment(s):</p> <ul> <li>#2314 Special Education Teacher, Cub Den - JTPS .pdf </li></ul>
