<p>Discover a more connected Fleet Inspector career TelCom Construction is currently hiring for a full-time Fleet Inspector. This traveling position's goal is to improve fleet efficiency through training, guidance, addressing safety questions and concerns, and vehicle inspection for proper maintenance and utilization. It interacts with field personnel and acts as a liaison, when necessary, to communicate issues, concerns and observations to other departments within the organization as necessary and makes recommendations for improvements and/or equipment needs to Fleet Department leadership. What you'll do as a Fleet Inspector • Inspects and reports deficiencies associated with Company owned vehicles and equipment to set standards: Cleanliness, Observes whether scheduled and/or mileage/hour driven maintenance is up to date and reports issues to Fleet and/or Service departments or specific mechanic as appropriate, Observes each unit for unreported damages; • Inspects and reports deficiencies associated with Company vehicles and equipment's compliance with DOT requirements and vehicle-specific certifications and coordinates resolution: Verifies whether DOT inspection is current where applicable, Verifies required inspection/certification of crane and boom-type vehicles is current, Inspects for obvious DOT violations or other vehicle deficiencies; • Verifies that registration, licensing and insurance documentation inside Company vehicles is up to date: Discusses license damages with the driver or supervisor, Follows up with the Fleet Department to update outdated documentation, Follows up with field personnel to ensure updated documentation is received and properly stored in the vehicle, Coordinates license and registration updates as necessary to ensure assets remain in compliance; • Trains drivers and/or supervisors on proper maintenance requirements (e.g. maintenance intervals, where to obtain service, etc); • Verifies that on-site equipment is appropriately reported by reconciling information listed on the appropriate equipment tracker. Makes updates as necessary; • Discusses equipment movement needs with local management. Reports movement needs to the Fleet Director; • Identifies and reports opportunities for improved equipment utilization, effectiveness and productivity Too much or not enough equipment on site, or is updated equipment necessary; • Verifies and reports transport readiness: Verifies equipment is ready for pick up, Identifies concerns about transport and reports to the appropriate Mobilization Driver Alerts Fleet department of urgent transport needs • Delivers documentation, license plates, small equipment, etc to job sites as requested • Assists in the planning of equipment audits and participates in audit performance; • Other duties as assigned What you'll need In depth knowledge of DOT equipment requirements; Ability to identify equipment types and sizes used in the telecommunications industry; Ability to recognize symptoms of lack of appropriate vehicle and/or construction equipment service; Commitment to compliance with and communication of service needs; Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions, correspondence and memos; Effective and respectful written and verbal communication with all applicable stakeholders, both internal and external, at all levels of the organization; Problem solver and logical thinker; Team oriented, keeping the organizational needs at the forefront. Familiarity with Google-based applications such as G-mail, Google docs and sheets. Proficient use of computer hardware and software including but not limited to Internet software and databases. Understanding and use of general arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, units of measure and weight using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends as needed. Maintains current DOT health card. Valid driver's license with favorable driving record required - Class A license preferred.
