<p>Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Controls Manager in the Central Division based out of Carmel, Indiana, Des Moines Iowa, or Kansas City Missouri. The primary duties of this role include troubleshooting and maintaining the PLC controls for all PLC-controlled plants in the region and assisting plants in coordinating contract or in-house electrical repairs and upgrades related to the plant controls.</p> <p>The Controls Manager will also actively research potential upgrades and fine-tuning to the existing plant controls to find more efficient means of operating the plant to gain capacity, consistency, availability, improve reporting, etc.</p> <p>A typical day for an Automation Specialist may include:</p> <ul> <li>Leading by example on all Martin Marietta safety rules/procedures and MSHA compliance standards and ensure that all employees are following established safety policies and procedures. </li><li>Leading skilled-trade support staff and contractors to meet daily plant Automation needs. </li><li>Coordinating all in-house Automation repairs and upgrades, including those related to plant controls for mining operations. </li><li>Actively researching potential upgrades in automation and fine-tune existing plant to improve safety, efficiencies, plant capacities, consistency, availability and reporting. </li><li>Working closely with engineering group and outside contracted vendors to meet deadlines and complete capital improvement projects. </li><li>Troubleshooting and supporting existing automated systems including but not limited to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interface (HMI), and Operator Interface Terminals (OIT). </li><li>Providing troubleshooting and startup assistance for new projects. </li><li>Using and maintaining standards developed by Automation Engineering. </li><li>Supporting existing systems via a 24/7 on-call rotation with other automation support personnel. </li><li>Supporting local electricians. </li></ul> <p>You may be a good fit if you meet the following requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Adherence to Martin Marietta, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations at all times. </li><li>Highly skilled at troubleshooting 120V AC and 24V DC control systems. </li><li>Have 3Ph/480 electrical troubleshooting experience. </li><li>Have experience working on and troubleshooting 4-20ma or I/O ling, full voltage starters, VFDs, and soft starts. </li><li>Have experience troubleshooting O/T networking including TCP/IP (layer 1 issues, pings & network scans) and using industrial protocols such as PROFINET, Ethernet IP, and Modbus TCP. </li><li>3 years electrical troubleshooting experience preferred. </li><li>2 years PLC Control Work. </li><li>Ability to travel overnight 20-30% of the time with flexible work hours as needed. </li><li>Experience working on level detection sensors, scales, VFDs, and soft starts. </li><li>The ability to work in a variety of environments. </li><li>General understanding of the plants and how they operate or motivation to gain that knowledge. </li><li>Must be a people person with the ability to work with people at different levels and train people. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Troubleshooting of O/T networking including TCP/IP, PROFINET, Ethernet IP, and Modbus TCP. </li><li>Programming and troubleshooting Wonderware software </li><li>Troubleshooting of Modbus UA and Device net networks. </li><li>2-year technical degree in electrical technology, plc programming or comparable experience. </li><li>Aggregate or Mining experience is preferred. </li><li>Experience leading a team is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.</p>
