<p>FARM TO SCHOOL COORDINATOR</p> <p>TITLE: Farm to School Coordinator SALARY SCHEDULE: Administrative Specialist WORK</p> <p>SCHEDULE: 220 Days</p> <p>CIVIL SERVICE: Classified (Exempt)</p> <p>RESPONSIBLE TO: Supervisor of Nutrition Services or Designee</p> <p>SUMMARY: Coordinates and oversees the Nutrition Service Department's Farm to</p> <p>School Program and the daily operation of the District's Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).</p> <p>Works with the supervisor in leading the District's Farm to School Program while carrying out</p> <p>National School Lunch and Breakfast Policies. Directly supervises and evaluates Nutrition Service</p> <p>employees and FoodCorps members. Responsibilities may include interviewing, selecting, and training</p> <p>employees, planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance, addressing complaints,</p> <p>and resolving problems.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Dietetics, Culinary, Food Service Management, </li></ol> <p>or a similar course of study.</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Prior experience in Farm to School practices is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Capable of supervising and supporting FoodCorps members and managing administrative tasks</p> </li></ol> <p>related to nonprofit partnerships within school nutrition programs.</p> <ol start="4"> <li> <p>Must have experience in food service operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collect and process necessary data for federal, state, and district reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess a working knowledge of the Federal School Breakfast, Lunch, After School, Snack,</p> </li></ol> <p>and Summer Feeding Program Regulations.</p> <ol start="7"> <li> <p>Ability to perform overall supervision in school cafeterias.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to learn and train employees on multiple types of web-based applications which include</p> </li></ol> <p>but are not necessarily limited to: menu planning, ordering, and point-of-sale systems.</p> <ol start="9"> <li> <p>ServSafe certified or ability to obtain ServSafe certification.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the nutrition staff and evaluate personnel</p> </li></ol> <p>based on established performance criteria.</p> <p>MAJOR FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Plan and lead hydroponic and garden-based activities for k-12 students.</p> </li><li> <p>Deliver Farm to School programs and events including taste tests, field trips, workshops</p> </li></ol> <p>culinary competitions, and special events.</p> <ol start="3"> <li> <p>Recruit and train community volunteers.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the Nutrition Supervisor in developing scratch recipes using locally sourced</p> </li></ol> <p>ingredients.</p> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Design outreach and publicity materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Plan, organize, and attend community and District events.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate the District's mission and vision through social media.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide on-the-job training and supervision to staff in sanitation, safety, food preparation,</p> </li></ol> <p>and meal service.</p> <ol start="9"> <li>Prepare and submit state and federal reports to ensure eligibility for federal reimbursement, </li></ol> <p>contributing to annual funding.</p> <ol start="10"> <li> <p>Audit expenses and work with the supervisor to control and attain financial goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepare and manage all required Community Eligibility Provision documentation, including</p> </li></ol> <p>direct certification, verification, daily updates, and ongoing communication with parents.</p> <ol start="12"> <li> <p>Maintain necessary records for cafeteria audits.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow procedures and methods for the Nutrition Services Department that will result in</p> </li></ol> <p>efficient operation of District cafeterias.</p> <ol start="14"> <li> <p>Assist in selecting and training staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist cafeteria staff as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in the menu planning process.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the Nutrition Service Supervisor in implementing the District Wellness Policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Keeps up to date on new regulations and requirements through the internet, home study,</p> </li></ol> <p>meetings, and/or training.</p> <ol start="19"> <li> <p>Provides critical analysis as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Generates written work product as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Reports misconduct and violations of policy or procedure.</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain productive and professional working relationships with co-workers, supervisors,</p> </li></ol> <p>and superiors.</p> <ol start="23"> <li>Ensure that official communications are accurate, demonstrate sound judgment, and promote the </li></ol> <p>District's mission.</p> <ol start="24"> <li>Must ensure that all applicable laws and regulations are followed and in the event of </li></ol> <p>non-compliance, immediately report it to a supervisor.</p> <ol start="25"> <li>Performs other related duties as assigned. </li></ol> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of</p> <p>those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this position.</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the</p> <p>essential functions.</p> <ol> <li>While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, </li></ol> <p>and hear.
