<p>To learn more text "RN - Good Shepherd" to 484-894-1659</p> <p>Good Shepherd Home - Bethlehem is for individuals 18 years of age and older requiring residential nursing care. Primary diagnoses served include, but are not limited to, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, quadriplegia, Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic brain injury and spina bifida. Each resident and his or her family are active participants in the development of a care plan.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Job summary</p> </li><li> <p>Is accountable for the delivery of nursing and resident care services; acts as a clinical and administrative resource during all hours of the shift.</p> </li><li> <p>Essential functions</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor quality clinical practice and resident care service delivery by:</p> </li><li> <p>Assessing resident status, identifying unstable medical conditions and taking appropriate action.</p> </li><li> <p>Directing the delivery of competent age specific nursing care to , adult and geriatric residents.</p> </li><li> <p>Validating that care is consistent with the medical regimen, long term care goals, the nursing plan of care and age of the resident.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining a safe physical environment conducive to the delivery of healthcare services.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducting rounds on all units to assess resident care needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining a resident-focused care environment within the philosophy of Good Shepherd and the Resident Bill of Rights.</p> </li><li> <p>Representing Good Shepherd services, philosophy and quality to external customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates financial accountability by:</p> </li><li> <p>Effectively assigning staff to meet the needs of residents.</p> </li><li> <p>Providing supplies, equipment, medication, and transport services for residents as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Identifying and providing input to Nurse Managers on work methods that reduce the cost and/or time required to deliver resident care.</p> </li><li> <p>Developing an environment conducive to effective time management for all nursing staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitoring budget variances in collaboration with Nurse Managers and assisting with implementing corrective actions and employee conflict resolution techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Direct staff to accomplish staff job results by:</p> </li><li> <p>Translating institutional goals, values and objectives to staff and others.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishing and supporting the attainment of departmental goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Assisting the Nurse Managers and Program Directors in effective communication among team members.</p> </li><li> <p>Identifying areas for performance improvement, measuring data, instituting corrective action plans and evaluating results.</p> </li><li> <p>Assuring that non-licensed personnel have achieved competency to carry out their delegated roles and responsibilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Effectively counseling and educating individuals whose performance does not meet standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Acknowledging performance excellence.</p> </li><li> <p>Coaching and mentoring licensed personnel to develop skills and perform expertly in their roles.</p> </li><li> <p>Providing a supportive environment for affiliating students' learning experiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Assuring compliance with orientation and continuing education requirements of the nursing department and institution.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitoring and managing group dynamics to facilitate team building.</p> </li><li> <p>Objectively assessing the performance of designated associates on an annual basis.</p> </li><li> <p>Orienting and evaluating the competency of agency, float, resource pool and/or per diem associates or delegating the responsibility to an appropriate individual.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by:</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining compliance with professional, regulatory and governmental standards of care.</p> </li><li> <p>Applying quality improvement techniques to improve deficiencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviewing and revising policies, procedures and standards of care, including appropriate references.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrating knowledge of responsibilities in an emergency situation and conducting drills (Code Blue, Fire, Internal Disaster, Bomb Threat, Priority Alert).</p> </li><li> <p>Responding to visitor injuries if the Employee Health Nurse is unavailable.</p> </li><li> <p>Contributes to the team effort by:</p> </li><li> <p>Developing channels of communication which will enhance working relations and service delivery between nursing shifts, units and hospitals.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishing cooperative, collaborative relationships among disciplines and departments.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicating effectively with the Nursing Management Team.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends leadership meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Assures communication of shift events by:</p> </li><li> <p>Preparing a clinical and management report at the end of each shift.</p> </li><li> <p>Completing a Supervisor's Shift Report for the Administrator/Director of Nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for completion of RL's for their shift, and ensuring follow-up is complete and accurate.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate professional development by:</p> </li><li> <p>Remaining current in nursing and management knowledge and skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintaining active membership in professional organizations.</p> </li><li> <p>Qualifications</p> </li><li> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Education</p> </li><li> <p>Associate's Degree in Nursing required</p> </li><li> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Work Experience</p> </li><li> <p>2-4 years of nursing experience required</p> </li><li> <p>Experience within a Long-Term Care facility preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Prior supervisory experience preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Licenses / Certifications</p> </li><li> <p>Registered Nurse license required</p> </li><li> <p>Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association required</p> </li></ul>
