<p>The Security Communications Specialist plays a critical role in the daily operations of the Connecticut Children's Hospital Security Dispatch Communications Center. Responsible for the oversight and scheduling of dispatchers and security officers as assigned, coordination of responses to service requests and emergency responses, and management of the security communication system and security equipment. In partnership with Security and Safety leadership, responsible for building and implementing training and workflows as they relate to processes and equipment operation. Ensures protocol adherence. Responsible for reporting out on data and metrics and is a CAD superuser. Maintains situational awareness to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors and team members as well as the hospital.</p> <p>May be required to drive company vehicle as necessary</p> <p>Leadership and Training- 23%</p> <ul> <li>Schedule and manage staffing needs for dispatch. </li><li>Provide direction and oversight to security officers and dispatchers who are assigned dispatching duties. </li><li>Coordinate shift coverage. </li><li>In partnership with Security Leadership assists in the development and implementation of security training as related to communication processes, systems, and equipment ensuring proficiency in security systems and protocols for all security officers and dispatchers. </li><li>Assists in the establishment, updating, and enforcement of policies and procedures. 23% </li></ul> <p>Technology and Systems Oversight- 22%</p> <ul> <li>CAD (Computer Automated Dispatch) and RMS superuser </li><li>Monitor and manage advanced communication and security technologies, including: CAD, RMS, radio system, blue light call boxes, fire alarms, cameras, and emergency broadcast systems. </li><li>Troubleshoot and maintain Avigilon Camera System across hospital and offsite locations. </li><li>Ensure communication equipment functionality, arranging repairs or replacements when required. Primary liaison between the security team and appropriate vendors </li><li>Work with access control systems. </li></ul> <p>Information Management and Reporting- 22%</p> <ul> <li>Document and log communications, incidents, and responses accurately for legal and procedural compliance. </li><li>Generate regular activity reports for Dispatch Communications Center, submitting to Security Leadership. </li><li>Manage access to hospital databases, handling sensitive information with confidentiality. </li></ul> <p>External and Internal Communications- 22%</p> <ul> <li>Serve as contact with external agencies (Local, State, and Federal), coordinating incident responses. </li><li>Oversee Emergency "Blue Light" Call Boxes at hospital and offsite facilities, ensuring immediate response protocols. </li></ul> <p>Dispatch-< 10%</p> <ul> <li> <p>As needed, receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.</p> </li><li> <p>As needed, dispatch and coordinate security personnel, patrol officers, and emergency services for incidents.</p> </li><li> <p>May work as a Security Officer as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other job-related duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience Required:</p> <ul> <li>Education: High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>Experience: Minimum 3 years' work in or supervising a dispatch or security communications role. </li></ul> <p>License and/or Certification Required:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Driver's License and clean driving record. </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience: </li><li>Supervisory experience preferred in a safety/security capacity. </li><li>Healthcare experience in safety/security preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with CAD, RMS, Avigilon Camera Systems, and other security technologies with the ability to evaluate, learn and teach new security platforms. Strong command of Microsoft business applications. </li><li>State of Connecticut Telecommunicator Certification or able to certification within six months. </li><li>Current Incident command training or able to obtain within six months: </li><li>IS-5.a (An Introduction to Hazardous Materials). </li><li>IS-100.c (Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100). </li><li>IS-242.b (Effective Communication). </li><li>IS-700.b (An Introduction to the National Incident Management System). </li><li>IS-951 (DHS Radio Interoperability). </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Strong organization, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to remain calm under pressure. </li></ul> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Leadership and Team Building and Coordination. </li><li>Situational Awareness and Attention to Detail. </li><li>High-Level Customer Service. </li><li>Advanced Technical Proficiency. </li><li>Microsoft Office Platforms. </li></ul> <p>Confidentiality and Discretion.</p>
