<p>MAU is hiring a Head of Business Development (Distribution Grid Applications) for our client in Charlotte, NC.</p> <p>As the Head of Business Development, you will lead the U.S. market expansion of Voltage Regulating Distribution Transformer (VRDT) technology by scaling adoption with utilities, developing go-to-market strategies, managing a team, and representing the business in key industry engagements. This is a direct-hire opportunity.</p> <p>Benefits Package</p> <ul> <li> <p>Two medical plan options:</p> </li><li> <p>PPO with Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)</p> </li><li> <p>High Deductible Plan with 100% employer-paid premium and Health Savings Account (HSA), including up to $3,300/year (single) or $6,600/year (family) employer contributions</p> </li><li> <p>Paid dental and vision coverage</p> </li><li> <p>Company-paid Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance</p> </li><li> <p>Paid Time Off (PTO) and company holidays</p> </li><li> <p>401(k) retirement plan with Roth option and up to 10% company match for 6% employee contribution</p> </li><li> <p>Benefits start on your first day of employment</p> </li></ul> <p>Shift Information</p> <ul> <li>Full-time position based in Charlotte, NC </li><li>Must be willing and able to travel 50-80% of the time </li><li>Remote work not available </li></ul> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Technical degree in electrical engineering with hands-on experience in low and medium voltage products </li><li>Extended experience in the electrical distribution network or U.S. utility sector, with a strong professional network </li><li>Demonstrated success in business development or entrepreneurship, including the creation and scaling of utility demand for new technologies </li><li>Experience managing and developing business development or product management teams </li><li>Professional fluency in Microsoft Office with ability to create strategic content, financial models, and executive presentations </li><li>Business-level fluency in English </li></ul> <p>Preferred Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Experience with VRDT (Voltage Regulating Distribution Transformer) applications and utility pilot programs </li><li>Familiarity with U.S. regulatory, legislative, and technical standards relevant to utilities (e.g., IEEE) </li><li>Experience working with or engaging stakeholders from network planning, DER interconnection, grid innovation, or utility standards engineering groups </li></ul> <p>General Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of utility business models, decision-making processes, and internal politics </li><li>Ability to establish new business models and build partnerships across the smart grid ecosystem </li><li>Skilled in combining technical and economic arguments for persuasive customer engagement </li><li>Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills </li><li>Willingness and ability to travel extensively across the U.S. </li><li>Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to deliver results while leading a team </li><li>Comfortable interfacing with both technical engineering teams and senior utility executives </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Lead and develop a U.S.-based business development and product management team (planned size: 3) </li><li>Translate successful VRDT pilots into standard purchasing agreements with large utilities </li><li>Identify and create new pilot opportunities with utility companies </li><li>Provide technical consulting during pilot setup and execution </li><li>Conduct or coordinate placement studies and cost-benefit analyses for VRDT implementations </li><li>Own full go-to-market responsibility (4 P's) for distribution grid application products in the U.S. </li><li>Act as the first line of product management for upcoming products, including the SPD </li><li>Collaborate with regulatory and standardization bodies (e.g., IEEE, Smart Grid Research Centers) </li><li>Develop and validate customer use cases and value propositions based on market insights </li><li>Manage relationships with sales representatives, consultants, and ecosystem partners </li><li>Analyze the competitive landscape and inform product improvements with technical feedback </li><li>Serve as a direct report to the U.S. CEO, with a dotted line to the Head of Distribution Grid Applications (Germany) </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Office-based role in Charlotte, NC, with extensive travel required across the U.S. </li><li>Frequent in-person engagements with utilities, partners, and regulatory bodies </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Frequent travel (50-80%) </li><li>Must be able to represent the company at conferences, meetings, and industry events </li></ul>
