<p>This Licensed Practical Nurse position is at the VA Boston Healthcare System located at the Jamaica Plain, MA location. This position is a full time position at 40 hours per week.</p> <p>The incumbent serves as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Float Position under the direction of the Primary Care Nurse Manager or Operations Manager in Primary Care for the designated site or program. The incumbent will float to a unit for a day to cover staffing in ambulatory care settings (including Primary Care & Specialty Clinics). The incumbent performs direct patient care and participates in activities that support safety on the unit and enable the program to meet its general requirements. The incumbent will interface with personal computer (PC) applications and numerous VISTA applications in the performance of his/her duties.</p> <p>Duties may include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Nursing Standing Orders by Protocol, Clinical Reminders with appropriate consults and alerts as indicated such as Call Center or MHV/Secure Messaging. </li><li>Oxygen therapy, medication administration to include to include IV medication if certified and as applicable per policy and/or complex treatments such as wound care. </li><li>Checking expiration dates of meds and supplies d. Delegated procedures and treatments. </li><li>Documentation of care through appropriate process or mechanism such progress notes, clinical reminder, letters, or MHV/Secure Messaging. </li><li>Assists with minor procedures, including obtaining and arranging necessary equipment, participating in time-outs, positioning patient, ensuring comfort and privacy. Monitors patient during the procedure. </li><li>Providing transports throughout the Jamaica Plain campus using safe patient handling equipment. </li><li>Collaborating effectively with veterans, their families, and the interdisciplinary team. </li><li>Developing and implementing measurable functional goal-oriented plans of care. </li><li>Complete assigned duties/responsibilities, which involve performing standard practical nursing activities. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge/skills to resolve a range of nursing problems. </li><li>Demonstrate knowledge of human behavior, motivations, and reactions to situations in the provision of nursing care, provide a safe environment and protect patients' rights, and recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday thru Friday 7:30 am - 4:00pm.</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized.</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized.</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.</p> <p>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.</p> <p>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Telework: Ad-hoc.</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement #: F1156, F1157, F1158 & F1159</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized.</p> <p>PCS Appraised Value Offer (AVO): Not Authorized.</p> <p>Financial Disclosure: Not Required.</p> <p>Notifications:</p> <ul> <li>This position is in the Excepted Service. </li><li>This position is covered by a special rate. </li><li>This position is not a Bargaining Unit position. </li><li>The incumbent may be required to travel to other VA campuses and CBOC's. </li><li>Narrative responses to the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) may be required from the selectee in order to proceed with the appointment. </li><li>Current and former Federal employees may submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action).
