<p>The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Family Well-Being and Protection, Bureau of Child Care Assistance is seeking a Licensed Child Care Consultant to join our team! </p> <p>This position is a member of the Child Care Licensing Unit within Division of Family Well-Being and Protection. This unit regulates compliance and offers consultation to licensed child care centers throughout the state of Iowa. This position requires significant travel and covers multiple counties in Iowa and ensures center compliance with child care licensing standards. </p> <p>This is a full-time opportunity, Monday - Friday with typical hours being from 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM however, flexibility in schedule is allowed with supervisory approval. </p> <p>Telework may be an option upon successful completion of the training period and will travel on a regular basis to conduct the assessments of allegations within the assigned Service Area. Mileage is paid at $0.50/mile travelled according to the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) State Accounting Enterprise Procedures. A valid driver's license is required. </p> <p>This position will be domiciled (work location) in Council Bluffs. Telework may be an option for this position if requested by the employee and approved by management. but the position is based in the assigned county and will serve clients in that and surrounding counties (Monona, Crawford, Carrol, Harrison, Shelby, Audubon, Pottawattamie, Cass, Adair, Mills, Montgomery, Adams, Union, Freemont, Page, Taylor and Ringgold). </p> <p>The ideal candidate will: </p> <ul> <li>Drive to childcare centers across Iowa. </li><li>Utilize a computer and various software programs to enter or retrieve childcare information. </li><li>Evaluate program performance by way of observation of interactions, inspection of facilities, review of postings, inspection of files, and examination of policy & procedures. </li><li>Evaluate, interprets and operationalizes Iowa Code, Iowa Admin Rule and Licensing Standards. (Mastery of 237A, 441-109, Comm 204) </li><li>Display a high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently. </li><li>Work with minimal supervision. Demonstrates responsible behavior and attention to detail. </li><li>Deliver timely reports that are accurate and concise. </li><li>Demonstrate interviewing skills and techniques </li><li>Utilize good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. </li><li>Provide consultation for problem solving needs of the center. </li><li>Establish and maintains a network of stakeholders to advance childcare efforts. </li><li>Evaluate aspects of cultural competence and child developmental needs relative to childcare standards. </li><li>Manage time and activities to meet deadlines. </li><li>Express information to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information.
