Research Grant or Time-limited positions may be eligible for all, some, or no benefits, based on the grant or project funding.</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Advertised Job Summary</p> <p>The Senior Accountant - General Ledger position performs and manages complex financial accounting general ledger system for General Accounting in the Controller's Office to include creation and maintenance of accounting records for the General Ledger and Capital Assets, verification and documentation of financial transactions, preparation of monthly and annual reports, monthly reconciliations, and assistance with reporting functions for the annual financial statements.</p> <p>Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience</p> <p>Requires a bachelor's degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.</p> <p>Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and terminology of accounting, banking, budgeting, financial management or investment. </li><li>Knowledge of state government fiscal accounting processes. </li><li>Knowledge of financial statement analysis. </li><li>Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data and reports. </li><li>Ability to plan, organize, review and supervise the work of subordinates. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively. </li></ul> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Job Duty</p> <p>Manages and reviews journal entries to analysis and approval of all entries in the General Ledger financial system. Assist the departments and campuses on proper procedures as it relates to making journal entries.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 25 Job Duty</p> <p>Manages, analyzes and reviews the accumulation, verification and submission of bi-monthly payroll and various monthly accounting data into the general ledger accounting system.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty</p> <p>Performs financial analysis and reconciliations for banking accounts, state subfunds. Ensures proper reporting of reconciliations and recording of differences to include in both the General Ledger and the SCEIS (state) System. Collects, assimilates and ensures the accuracy of financial data for internal and external reporting requirements.</p> <p>Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty</p> <p>Performs monthly analytics and review of Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts.
