<p>Position: Summer Literacy Program Teacher - Substitute</p> <p>Title 1 Summer Success Program</p> <p>Dates: Monday - Thursday, July 7, 2025 - July 31, 2022 (4 days a week for a month)</p> <p>Location: Hosmer School</p> <p>Hours: 8:00-12:00 pm with 30 min of prep a day plus one 1-hour orientation 1 "day" of set up/clean up and a weekly 30-minute faculty meeting.</p> <p>Rate of Pay: $35.00 per hour</p> <p>Number of Positions: 5</p> <p>The responsibilities may include:</p> <p>This position would be on call in the morning as well as for planned absences. Pay would be determined by how many days worked.</p> <p>Teach grouping of students in grades K-5. (Grouping will be 15-20 students)</p> <ul> <li>Use Responsive classroom management - morning meeting and closing circle </li><li>Conduct whole group and small group literacy lessons </li><li>Encourage a love of reading and talking about books </li><li>Work with students on writing in response to reading </li><li>Implement the Literacy Camp curriculum and incorporate creative activities as needed </li></ul> <p>Required knowledge, skills, & abilities</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with elementary or middle school students. </li><li>Experience collaborating with colleagues </li><li>Familiarity with best practices in literacy instruction, and comfortable modeling instruction when needed </li><li>Holds the belief that all children can learn and learn to read and write effectively </li><li>Familiarity with Responsive Classroom practices, language, and beliefs </li><li>An ability to engage students in using all 4 domains: listening, reading, speaking, and writing </li><li>Having students engage in academic conversations during every class </li><li>Attend pre-program training and weekly faculty meetings. </li></ul> <p>Education/Experience:</p> <ul> <li>A current Massachusetts Teaching License/Certification </li><li>Three or more successful years of experience teaching students in literacy, preferred </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer</p> <p>Watertown Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
