<p>Western Michigan University's College of Education and Human Development invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Organizational Change Leadership Tenure Track. The individual in this position will serve in the Organizational Change Leadership (OCL) unit within the Department of Educational Leadership, Research, and Technology at Western Michigan University (WMU). The OCL unit is comprised of a suite of academic programs that includes a PHD in Organizational Change Leadership, an MA in Organizational Change Leadership, a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Change Leadership, and an Undergraduate Minor in Organizational Change Leadership.</p> <p>We seek to hire someone who can fill needed content expertise areas (organizational development, change, organizational leadership, organizational culture, power and politics, and group dynamics), and provide new energy and perspectives related to teaching; recruiting, retaining, and advising students; and scholarly research.</p> <p>This individual will also serve on committees for doctoral students in the PhD in Education and Human Development with an emphasis in Organizational Change Leadership. To attain and keep graduate faculty status (which is required to teach in a graduate program at the institution), this individual will be required to maintain an active research agenda. Ideally, this faculty member should have connections with thought leaders in the profession, as well as in professional associations in the field of organizational development and change.</p> <p>The individual in this position will also be expected to teach courses in both Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, MI, maintain office hours, and support program initiatives on campus, in-person in Kalamazoo, Michigan.</p> <p>Information on the Organizational Change Leadership programs can be found here:</p> <p>https://wmich.edu/leadership/academics/ocl</p> <p>Major Duties</p> <ul> <li>Serve as instructor of record for organizational change leadership courses beginning late August 2026. </li><li>Maintain an active research agenda in the field of organizational development and change. </li><li>Advise undergraduate minor, certificate, master's, and doctoral students in the organizational change leadership unit. </li><li>Participate in recruiting initiatives of future undergraduate, certificate, master's and doctoral students. </li><li>Support curricular improvement efforts and development of new curricula within the unit as needed. </li><li>Engage in service to the unit, department, college, and university, as well as to the profession of organizational development and change more broadly. </li><li>Provide appropriate service to unit, department, college, university, and/or community. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Earned doctorate in Organizational Change Leadership, Organizational Development, Human and Organizational Studies, Management and Organizational Studies, Organizational Behavior, or Organizational Studies from an accredited institution. </li><li>Evidence of successfully teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses (both face-to-face and online) in the field of organizational development and change. </li><li>Evidence of successfully teaching adult learners and diverse populations. </li><li>Evidence of active scholarship in organizational change/organizational studies as demonstrated by publications in books, academic journals, and/or presentations at national and/or international conferences. </li><li>Record of professional involvement in the field of organizational development and change (e.g., academic conferences and professional associations). </li><li>Experience advising graduate students. </li><li>Expertise as committee member on doctoral dissertations. </li><li>Comprehensive understanding of U.S.-based organizations across all sectors-including military, governmental, for-profit, nonprofit-to effectively support talent identification and recruitment strategies. </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Evidence of professional, academic, and/or organizational leadership. </li><li>Experience designing and leading marketing and recruitment efforts (expertise in social media marketing preferred). </li><li>Evidence of curriculum development and course design for working professionals. </li><li>Expertise in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods. </li><li>Experience consulting with organizations, e.g., non-profits, for-profit organizations, military, health care and/or government organizations. </li><li>Experience establishing and maintaining partnerships with organizations internal or external to the university to facilitate research, consulting, and community service. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <p>Starting Date: August 15, 2026</p> <p>Review of applications will begin October 1, 2025 and will continue until the position is filled.
