Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.</p> <p>Raytheon Legal Contracts and Compliance (LCC) is seeking an experienced intellectual property attorney with a background in all areas of intellectual property including patent law. Reporting to the Chief Intellectual Property (IP) Counsel, the Director will serve as a lead IP advisor supporting one of Raytheon's five strategic business units (SBUs) and will work closely with the business, engineering, the technical community, and other colleagues across Raytheon and RTX to deliver legal counsel aligned with business objectives to provide cutting-edge technologies and solutions for sea, land, air, and space systems.</p> <p>What You Will Do</p> <ul> <li>Effectively identify and provide strategic guidance on complex IP matters related to Raytheon's business </li><li>Draft and negotiate license agreements and complex transactions </li><li>Provide accurate, timely, and pragmatic advice on IP issues related to the life cycle of government contract procurement and pursuits, including data rights assertions, compliance with FAR, DFARS and agency-specific regulatory requirements, offset/localization obligations, and joint venture & consortium agreements with partners. </li><li>Collaborate with clients to develop and implement IP Strategies aligned with business and technology strategies, </li><li>Develop deep knowledge in key technological areas </li><li>Drive initiatives to strengthen IP protection and monetization across Raytheon </li><li>Adapt to a fast-paced environment, drive results, and collaborating within a matrixed environment </li><li>Lead in a fast paced-environment and make collaborative and sound decisions on complex issues </li><li>Regularly advise senior leadership within the SBU, Engineering and other functions on critical IP decisions </li><li>Travel to support business needs </li><li>Possible Work Locations: CA - El Segundo, AZ - Tucson, CO - Aurora, TX - McKinney, MA - Tewksbury or VA - Arlington </li></ul> <p>Qualifications You Must Have</p> <ul> <li>Typically requires a minimum of 12 years prior relevant experience advising or supporting complex intellectual property issues or transactions including conducting legal research, drafting and negotiating legal documents, or litigating </li><li>JD Law Degree and an active state bar membership </li><li>Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Offices </li><li>Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations </li><li>Experience guiding businesses to address legal and regulatory challenges related to IP </li></ul> <p>Qualifications We Prefer</p> <ul> <li>Experience with U.S. government contract intellectual property regulations (FAR and DFARS) and complex issues relating to technical data and computer software </li><li>Experience with IP valuation, IP monetization, and international IP issues and transactions including offsets and localization </li><li>Highly motivated with strong analytical skills, written skills, strategic thinking, sound judgment, sense of accountability, integrity and a record of managing complex intellectual property matters </li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to learn quickly, provide creative solutions, communicate effectively at all levels, and influence senior leadership </li><li>In-house IP legal experience and active Top Secret security clearance </li></ul> <p>What We Offer</p> <ul> <li>Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.</p> <p>Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.</p> <p>Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.</p> <p>This role is a U.S.-based role.
